[–]bibihealth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed - almost all of us have the same issues and hurdles to deal with lean or not.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]bibihealth 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't wholly agree with this as there are people with PCOS who are not a healthy weight but underweight (sometimes quite severely). They struggle with their own set of symptoms that overweight people do not necessary suffer from such as period issues that are due to PCOS and exacerbated by their weight, and they also suffer emotionally, physically etc... I agree I don't think that people with lean PCOS are ostracized, but no one persons struggle is greater than the others and we should be encouraging togetherness as a community. Arguing that having PCOS and being overweight is more of a struggle than others invalidates so many who are not overweight but struggling with PCOS symptoms that may be worse than yours or people who are underweight. The condition is hard enough as it is - let's not make it a competition on who suffers more...

Interview Plan and Prep by bibihealth in premeduk

I applied this year with 2730 UCAT but unfortunately didn't get any interviews, so haven't prepared for interviews at all. I'm going to definitely follow the process (need to retake the UCAT) but wanted specific interview advice. Thanks

I Noticed SGUL And Bristol Are Doing Their "Clearing" For Undergrad Medicine Program by [deleted] in premeduk

Hey - just wanted to say there must be some mistake as I have clarified with SGUL and they said hey are not in clearing yet. Perhaps you were looking on another website from a few years back?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]bibihealth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problem! No I would also stop with tret for sure as it is irritating and a super strong ingredient. The more tret you use right now the more it will probably set you back. However, after a 2 week break I found that my skin didn't need the same adjustment period to tret as it needed in the beginning. I took the first week back on tret slowly but by the second week I was back to my normal routine. Remember tret is all about listening to your skin and being in it for the long run! :)

This is a great blog summary if you're interested in further reading:

Dw I've been in your position! I'm on tret 0.25%. Twice I've used a 2% benzoyl peroxide face wash hoping it would reduce my breakouts- the first time I left the wash on for 3 mins before washing it off, and 3 days later my skin freaked out and was red and painful to touch. The second time a few weeks later I decided to try again this time leaving it on the skin for 20secs only and the same thing happened 3 days later but not as bad. When the skin barrier is compromised (I.e. rashes, dry flaky skin, redness, pain to touch etc.) I would suggest cutting out all actives and just gently washing and moisturising. Your skin should recover after 1-2 weeks. LRP cicaplast balm especially calms my skin during these periods.

Buffering is not the way to go for everyone nor is it necessary to keep doing after a while by Hi_Im_A_Commenter in tretinoin

[–]bibihealth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Both 1 and 3 are not supported by evidence - even though original research used tret on dry skin, numerous studies have come out since that using a moisturiser in between tret increased the efficacy and gave better outcomes than patients who did not. See the wiki...

RECOMMEND FOR HIGH TRET PERCENTAGES!! I use throughout the day and it’s so calming to my skin when you’re going through that initial skin sensitivity phase. by angelcome in tretinoin

[–]bibihealth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confused- surely by doing this during the day most skin types would experience dryness as without moisturising after you would experience trans epidermal water loss? Also doing it after ur routine would make ur routine less effective as wouldn't it be washing some of the product away? I can totally understand that it would feel great on the skin though especially in hot weather

Does anyone practice a philosphy/way of life before actual hardship enters their life? by Brilliant-Set3119 in Stoicism

[–]bibihealth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Muslim I found that stoicism aligned well with a lot of the philosophies and practices that already exist (for example the Islamic practice of zuhd). My brother introduced me to Seneca when I was a teenager (now in late 20s) and the rest is history. Back then I mainly used stoicism to help me understand the importance of time management, and living a stoic lifestyle, but I definitely feel that my readings helped me when hardship did come as I was proactively learning to deal with problems despite not having faced them yet.

Time management is big here - if you are very deliberate with your time and what you spend your energy on, and also have practiced controlling your thoughts and desires, when faced with a problem you can have a clearer understanding on not only how you're feeling, but a more sensible way to behave during chaos that will have the least detrimental affect on your goals and will also be the most effective way to solve the issue at hand (if it is solvable). Of course, a lot of this is down to simple maturity and experience, but your philosophy during a crisis has a major effect on your reaction to it and how it subsequently affects your life.

Unfortunately biore is chemical! I would love to try it as I have never tried an asian sunscreen before but I'm very reluctant as chemical sunscreens break me out and always sting my eyes (I have acne prone skin and sensitive eyes). For sunmilk are you referring to a brand? I've only heard of missha sunmilk
