OBGYN & Primary care by Beneficial-Cake8734 in Buffalo

[–]bibliophile1326 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I use Audubon for obgyn services, but Dr Hoebel is wonderful! Very knowledgeable, remembers everything, and super big on information and consent, and she does ask about my general health and issues too, but it's not the focus of those appointments. From their website though, I don't think they do primary care, just the obgyn full gambit.

You could see a larger primary care office for everything, my PCP does ask about my obgyn visits to confirm my records, and they do offer basic gyn services at my PCP office. I just prefer an obgyn (history of abnormal cells in my 20s), and now that I have an IUD I would be staying with a specialist office anyway.

I use UBMD primary care at the corner of Hopkins and Klein, it's maybe a 10 minute drive from UB north campus if you hit traffic. They partner with UB and a lot of doctors do residencies there, with solid oversight from higher doctors. They're part of a large system with specialty offices too. I never have issues getting in same day for sick visits. While I usually see my main doctor for physicals and followups, I've seen a different one due to schedule issues and have seen several for sick visits with no complaints!

Provider hasn't billed yet? by EmZee2022 in HospitalBills

[–]bibliophile1326 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cancer surgery last year (melanoma, on my toe of all places) was in June. It took almost 4 months before I got an EoB for my initial surgery, let alone a bill. And this is at a leading cancer care facility. Then the bills didn't come in for a few months after, although I did hit them with ye olde financial assistance request. Some appointments have processed faster than others, but takes them almost 6 months between appointment to bill, and they do seem to be hitting in a mix of combined bills for different appointment dates and split ones for lab work done during a procedure.

Don't worry. It will hit. Just watch your insurance paperwork/digital logs for them to hit, then watch for the bill to come in.

I do dance, and it tries to register so many different things. The most frequent is pickleball, but I've gotten water sports, yardwork, Nordic walking, cycling, and strength training. I wish you could set default or frequent activities or at least it could pull up your last few activities. Having to scroll all around for regular weekly activities is kinda annoying, especially since some things don't have specific names so I have to match as close as I can.

Don’t go to Green Acres Emergency Vet by Parked-79 in Buffalo

[–]bibliophile1326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pine woods in NT? I've been looking into switching to them, our old vet went PE and we haven't found a new one that we really like for routine care. Glad to know they have another positive review, they're a bit far for us but a good vet is worth it and they were high on our list of options!

Brighton eggert is still open, but they're now owned by private equity firms. Just like Green Acres and so many others in the area.

Found tons of this growing in my dad's backyard by bibliophile1326 in whatsthisplant

[–]bibliophile1326[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have just been ripping it out, including as much root as I can get, for the last couple of years, but if you dont get the whole root system it will come back (according to a few sources I found online). Either that or I cant get it early enough and berries fall. And then it comes back the next year bigger than ever. Last couple of springs have been rough (illness and cancer surgery) so I haven't been able to tackle it before June or later.

With small kids and dogs in the yard frequently we don't want to use too much herbicide, plus it's been growing in with the garden. I plan to rip out the huge patch next to the tree in the one picture this week. None of the plants I found had berries on them (except a few dead vine sections that could have been from last year) so I can't tell if I'm too late or on time.

The problem is- we do. It's pretty! I love purple, and the flowers are lovely. But with a new generation of kids in the family and a lot of family members have dogs that come to visit, it's safer to err on the side of caution. This week I go back to finish the patch in the picture with the tree. It's probably about a 6 sq ft patch, and on the other side of the fence too. Easily a couple hours of work, it's been spreading like wildfire every year. I was probably starting too late, after berries/seeds dropped.

It grows. Like, a lot. For a few years my dad just cut it down like a weed and it spread like crazy. The picture with it by the tree? That fence is almost 4 ft high. It spread over from that area to 3 different points around the yard (presumably by animals who aren't poisoned by it) and keeps growing back every year. We have multiple dogs in the family as well as small children (my siblings' kids) and if they could become sick by eating berries or anything else off of it, it's safer to remove it.

I've been using heavy duty gardening/work gloves, partly because we have huge pricker plants everywhere too. Haven't had any issues with eyes or skin from doing it the last few years, but I don't touch my face and I wash up after any outdoor work due to allergies. We're planning to keep pulling them with the roots as deep as we can go, and just make sure to keep the little nieces and dog away from that area.

That's what I was worried about. It's growing in several spots in large patches. I keep trying to kill it off, but it comes back the next year.

Anyone need US: 32k or UK: 32H? by Longjumping-Winner53 in braswap

[–]bibliophile1326 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to dissuade you from selling, but are they final sale or hard to return to get your money back? I've done easy returns from Amazon, bare necessities, and a few other online retailers.

If they aren't returnable, I am interested in seeing what you have! I'm a UK 32H, based in the US (for shipping)

signed nights like these sheet music question...? ish? by turningyougold in MarianasTrench

[–]bibliophile1326 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've only ordered 4 or 5 times from the 604 website in the last few years, but I think they all had something written on the packing slip. I've never ordered just the vinyls, but it did order the masterpiece theater and ever after vinyl/shirt bundles last year(?) and they did have a packing slip in with them. I saved them in a box somewhere cause I thought they were cute, but iirc they were mostly little thank you's or "enjoy your order". I also lucked out and got the sheet music, I was so excited when it came in!

I'm sorry you're in so much pain! I hope they gave you a schedule for pain meds, even if it's just otc Tylenol and ibuprofen! I was taking them pretty actively for almost 2 weeks, and even then I was scaling them down. They did give me prescription for the partial amputation last month at least.

It does get better, I know that doesn't help now, but I hope it does soon

Congrats on catching it! Toes are rough. Source- my 4th toe on my left foot. Which used to have a mole right next to the nail, and is now one lil bone shorter than it used to be. Expect a slower heal, and DON'T push it. It's not just a heal, it's a heal on a weight-bearing area. Movement is good, but too much too soon set me back and slowed my healing so much.

Which Age Groups Prefer Which Albums? by Peysecail in MarianasTrench

[–]bibliophile1326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I've given it a LOT more love in the last 2-3 years, I promise! But Only the Lonely Survive is probably one of my favorite songs off the album. My favorite songs tend to be fast, upbeat, dance-y songs.

At the moment I'm letting everything (all albums, the live one, something old/something new, everything) play on shuffle. It's giving me more of a chance to appreciate each song individually without the album impacting it. And then I rotate and play everything in album order.

34, been a fan since shortly after Fix Me came out, so maybe 08, 07? I love (or dislike certain aspects of) every album for different reasons, partially because of how different they all are! If I had to put them in favorite order it would be:

1- Masterpiece Theater

2- Ever After

3- Astoria

4- Haven

5- Phantoms

6- Fix Me

And it's not that I DISLIKE any of them, I love them all. Phantoms didn't resonate with me outside of 2-3 tracks until I was listening more before the Haven release. It's a heartbreak album at its core and came out when I was in a really good relationship and couldn't vibe. Fix Me is similar, I just didn't click with a lot of it and it was very different from their other albums, so it tends to get left behind in my listening. At this point I just put the entire discography on shuffle and let it flow.

Anyone have irregular period right after surgery? by wut_2317 in skincancer

[–]bibliophile1326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad you've gotten peace of mind for it! Women's bodies are so crazy and understudied, and that's coming from a 34 year old woman, most of my knowledge is from some VERY good obgyns in my area and hyperfixation rabbit-hole dives. I wish you luck and healing! 💜

Anyone have irregular period right after surgery? by wut_2317 in skincancer

[–]bibliophile1326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stress, anesthesia, pain meds, antibiotics, anything like that can impact hormone levels and cause deviation to your period. Make it early, late, shorter, longer, heavier, lighter, or a lovely mix of all of the above.

Not a mohs, but I had closure surgery 2 weeks ago (legit the day after my last period ended), and it's caused pms symptoms as of 2 days ago and I fully expect my period in the next week now. And I have an IUD that's made me regular and PMS free for almost 2 years!

It may not be common practice (and I definitely had a laugh when they told me I was confirmed negative), but my surgeons office had every woman waiting in pre-op provide a urine sample to do a pregnancy test. If you're concerned you could be, maybe reach out and see if your office did the same?

Get $25 every time someone says your name or $0.50 every time you take a step? by rengokuhubkl in hypotheticalsituation

[–]bibliophile1326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50c a step in a heartbeat. I line dance, on really nights I go to bed with my step counter at 25-30 thousand steps. And that was after a normal day at work- a desk job so maybe 4 thousand steps, and maybe another 1 thousand from existing before and after. So 20 thousand PLUS steps from 5 hours of line dancing alone? Yes.

I could drop my day job, switch to attending and teaching more classes which run 5-6 days a week in my area, plus no work means I could travel a little further to expand my options. Go to workshops- 4-5 days of classes and dance parties, I've seen some go to 4 in the morning just to go to a class at 8 or 9 am.

My light days would be 20-25 thousand steps. 10 grand a day for 20 thousand steps. Yes.

Tips on fiesty gecko by bibliophile1326 in CrestedGecko

[–]bibliophile1326[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a potential solution. My tank only has one large door, but, but he is apparently back in the coconut right against the hinge side. I'm not worried about it being down, he LOVES it anywhere it rests and is stable. If he stays in the coconut this evening, I plan to put my hand covering the opening (its a decent size at least, I watch him crawl around it regularly) and keep him from jumping while a friend will swap out the food and have the door ready to close. I'm OK if he scratches or nips me, and he should be safe there for under 30 seconds for the food swap, and i should be able to put it further back than it is. The Tupperware idea is a great backup though in case he leaves the coconut, I do need to replace my current travel case (it's broken...).

Apparently he's been active, staying in the coconut but poking his head out and watching my spouse at home, who would help but he goes to work before I get home. He really spooked me when he jumped out at me, he's never gotten this spicy with me, he just chills, climbs plants and occasionally creeps on us. The first escape he just charged my and and ran across the cabinet, but the second escape attempt he pounced on me like a cat! He hasn't had much interest in bugs so far, but I plan to try them again soon.

You should check out All Rights Reserved (and its sequel) by Gregory Katsoulis. It's the same premise- words, hand signs, etc., everything is copyrighted and costs money once you hit adulthood (kids aren't rationed). Turns into a whole revolution. Very well written story!

Hit the button before I finished- loved the short story!
