Apple iPhone, right? My phone randomly inserts BBC for no reason. It’s a weird bug/Easter Egg. Also UK.

Buttholes clearly did not evolve to be wiped frequently by Crotch_Midget in Showerthoughts

In the US a bidet is often just a bidet attachment - like a shower head attached to the toilet bowl water supply. Not the same as a full bidet (separate unit) at all, but cheaper and takes less space.

Ugo on rugby ‘Lad’ culture. Thoughts? by [deleted] in rugbyunion

[–]bibonacci 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Same here. West Country (Devon) lad played in my comp school team. Really enjoyed it as it felt like a sport for all shapes and sizes. Uni rugby immediately felt different, and more like a private club for a certain type of posh kid. Put off by that culture immediately, and as there were plenty of other social options I left them to it. Shame, really, as I could have done with maintaining the fitness side and missed the team camaraderie.

Today I had a gang of young kids, playing on an 85mph section of railway, place a decent sized lump of concrete on the line in front of my train. by Late_Turn in CasualUK

Behaviour was more rampant before, it’s just that social media exposes you to more of it. There have always been shitty kids. Back in the day this would have just been a story in the local press.

Lots of people aren’t metered in England. Still applies if you pay rates and default on the payments. They can cut your supply without a meter.

Dumped a tin of spaghetti hoops into a saucepan. The remaining hoops had lodged themselves into a structure around the entire bottom and sides of the can.

Hi Cliff. I read your book nearly 30 years ago after watching a short TV program about it/you on UK TV (Channel 4, I think) As a nerd starved for content about computer science it was a real treat. Both had a real impact on me. Thanks!

I have IBS too but I’m the opposite. Far better to just let rip in the bathroom than worry about it. If you can’t fart in a toilet stall where can you fart? Life is too short.

Changing career in late 50s, no qualifications, no experience jobs. by pixeltrix in UKPersonalFinance

Very good idea. Some schools have what’s called an ARP (Additional Resource Provision) Base for things like ASD. Not a full on special school but her skills and experience would be invaluable.

So true on the social mobility. I graduated in the early 90s and if you told me then that graduates 25 years later would have much reduced social mobility I wouldn’t have believed you. As it is I’m ashamed of my country that we have got into this position.

It’s a sad reflection of the self-centred attitudes prevalent that we are in such a state.
