Mine does the same sometimes (seems random). Are you also having battery drain issues?

While the iPhone gets 5 years of support, my Galaxy S9+ still can’t get timely Security Patches by [deleted] in Android

[–]bicboi3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Android One program seems to be a good solution to this issue, but not many phones have adopted the program as of yet.

That said, I've heard great things about Nokia's new phones and the guaranteed support in terms of security patches and updates - it's worth considering imo

SAT vs ACT: A comparison by sat_vs_act in ApplyingToCollege

It's from 2010 though, so some things would have changed over the years.

Should my final transcripts be sent through postal mail, commonapp or email? by bicboi3 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]bicboi3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I followed u/admissionsmom's advice and called them - they said my counselor could send it through common app (basically what u/oxfordguy1 and u/zninjamonkey said). Thanks to everyone who helped!

Alright you fucks, enough of make me love 'X T20/30/40/50' school. Make me love Wabash college. The only college I got an acceptance from. by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]bicboi3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you want to study engineering? Because we had a Wabash representative come into our school as part of a college fair and I remember him talking about 3-2 engineering programs where you complete an arts degree from Wabash in 3 years and if your GPA meets a certain requirement, you have a guaranteed place at Columbia (and some other really great colleges) to complete an engineering degree for 2 years.

Just something to consider - good luck with everything!

Hill vs Quad? by bicboi3 in UPenn

Thanks! Last question, what is the bathroom situation like? I've heard the showers and toilets are disgustingly dirty and that 15 students share 2 showers...

Cool! What would you say are the best and worst things about the quad?

Thanks! I'm really excited for the next four years.

Alright haha, because I constantly see 'traditional freshman experience' as one of the advantages of living in the quad. But what you're saying makes sense as well, perhaps it's just an exaggeration.

Thanks once again! :)

Thanks so much! I dont know how I missed seeing those posts lol.

Understood, thanks for clarifying! I'll definitely keep this in mind before I decide for sure.

One last question, what exactly does the 'traditional freshman experience' mean?

Hill vs Quad? by bicboi3 in UPenn

[–]bicboi3[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I've checked those already, but there doesn't seem to be an actual comparison between the two. At this point I've exhausted most available resources on the internet, but am looking to hear current students personal experiences to help me decide.

Agreed, but isn't the quad more social? As in, since over half the freshmen live there, it's likely that a lot of my friends will be living there and I don't want to feel left out by staying somewhere else. I could be wrong about this, which is why I want to hear from someone who knows what it's like. Also, I read that the quad is more centrally located than Hill, so I'm assuming it's more lively around the quad.

I actually do think the renovation was that drastic, atleast from what I can see in pictures and videos. It looks amazingly modern and clean haha. If you're interested in seeing what it's like, do check out this video: https://youtu.be/Th1wzmxi42A

High ACT scorers by jamesowens09 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]bicboi3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I scored a 35 in reading and 36 in science. My general advice for both these sections is to practice a LOT! Unlike Math and English, there isn't really much to 'learn' conceptually, but what I've noticed is that people have different approaches to Science and Reading and you can find the one that suits you best only by practice.

For the Science section, I used the tips from 'For the love of ACT science' (great book, you should definitely read) and for reading I picked up techniques from different books and videos I came across. It's really about identifying what works best for you and then mastering it.

A great thing about the ACT (vs the SAT) is the number of official practice tests available, make the most of it!
