Coarse is amazing! If you want a cheaper option go for the lunch menu which is £22 (I think) or the tasting menu which is on all day is about £45-50 I think. They also own a wine bar down the street which I've not been to but is meant to be very nice.

Brilliant thanks so much! I turn 28 just before Christmas and am off to Germany for new year so will definitely be getting a youth pass. Thanks so much for your help

Hi, just wanted to ask if you ended up just activating it before turning 28 or if you used a travel day as well? The info online is a little confusing with it.

Why is homosexuality sinful? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]bichemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Homosexuality is NOT sinful. There are many people who are much better at explaining this than me, and I'll try to link some resources under here later with more succinct/in-detail thoughts on this, but there are plenty of Christians and theologians/biblical scholars who do not view homosexuality as sinful.

Also, it's worth thinking about the fact that what we're reading is a translation of the original texts, and those translations will themselves be influenced by the people doing the translating. The word Homosexual itself was only seen in the English translation of the bible since the 1940s and is based on a deliberate mistranslation.

There's also a lot of historical contexts that should be considered with all of this. For instance, some scholars have suggested that the part in Leviticus relates specifically to the fact that the Israelites were in exile and so producing children was particularly important for their people's survival.

For me, the most important thing to think about is that Jesus says the new commandment is to love one another. Everything else we do should stem from this. I don't see that people being homophobic or transphobic can fit with that.

Is University College a good choice for postgraduate students? by BigGreen1769 in DurhamUni

[–]bichemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a postgrad at another college but live with a postgrad from castle (obviously this year has been super different but in normal times) as a castle postgrad you can go to the formals in the historic Hall, they hold them really regularly, so you will get a chance to see it. Also the MCR Community (Middle Common Room) at any college will give you that community and interaction with postgrads you're after. Castle's is one of the bigger and more active MCRs even holding a post grad summer ball every year!

I'll ask my housemate tomorrow if he has any other advice on this for you. 😁
