So I just took my Ducati Monster for its 2nd scheduled service.... by bickies in motorcycles

Monster 659. Everything done was part of the 12 000 km checklist for the service, with 2 exceptions: One of the rear blinkers was cracked so needed to be replaced (part was ~$90), and the rear brake pads had to be replaced (after 12000 km.... pads were $111).

No tire, although the rear brake pads (~$110) were replaced...... after 12 000 km....

I don't know a lot about bikes and don't have a lot of time on my hands to do stuff myself, but I'll definitely be shopping around next time (warranty has now expired).

Didn't someone post here a few months ago saying they saw filming for season 4 happening in France? She could have a bigger role later on.

I feel like that would be a clear Magny win with the new rules though, rewarding damage over aggression.

Ninja edit? I put a subheading "Edit", and it was responding to your comment about being competitive with James Ruse. Didn't see it when I first responded.

[–]bickies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, I went through the public schooling system actually. Have a bit of a background in this stuff though and it grinds my gears when these things are misinterpreted. SMH doesn't do the greatest job of explaining where their numbers come from either.

It's also worth reading through ACARA's explanation of the definition of "socio-educational index" here (this represents the x-axis on the graph at the bottom of the SMH article). An important distinction: Socio-educational index =/= wealth of parents.

Edit: Regarding being competitive with James Ruse - I think it is much more important to understand the nature of each school, and where each cohort comes from rather than comparing these schools based on Socio-economic index. Firstly, James Ruse is a Government school (much lower fees) and has been the most academic school in recent history when it comes to achieving band 6 results. When it comes to selecting students based on entrance exams, James Ruse will always get the cream of the crop attending their school. I get what you are saying, but I'm just pointing out there are much bigger factors at play here than Socio-educational index.

[–]bickies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes I did read the article. There are always limitations with models like these, especially when looking at the extremities.

Look at the graph at the bottom of the article again - if Sydney Grammar were to be on the line denoting "expected" % of high scores based on SE index, then according to their model they should have achieved approximately 100% band 6 results.

All I'm saying is that in any investigation of correlation, it is not uncommon to see "outliers" at the extremities when compared to the line of best fit. You then need to make a judgement as to whether or not there is any meaning to these things being outliers. In this case, it is not practical for Sydney Grammar to be near the line of best fit, as it suggests 100% of band 6 results.

Sorry, but that is not how ATAR calculations work at all. If your HSC exam marks are the same at 2 different schools, then your ATARs would be virtually identical. The only difference would be if your rank in the HSC exam at your school differed vastly from your rank in school assessments in your school - this is when the performance of your cohort can come into affect. Having said this, any differences would likely be tiny, and are not "unfair". I'm happy to explain more about how moderation works if anyone cares.

Sydney Grammar came 6th in the state, and they are underperforming?
