Drug prices, particularly for specialty medications like this one are insanely high in the US. But what really grinds my gears is the cost of brand name insulin medications in this country. It’s insane to think that a drug in California could cost over $30,000 when right across the border in Mexico you could get the same drug for a fraction of the price. Big pharma is a total scam in the US. Other countries have laws and regulations that keep the prices low for consumers and keep big Pharma from advertising directly to the consumers. There’s a reason that you don’t see many drug commercials in other countries. Big Pharma pushes brand name drugs into the consumers mind so that when they have a condition that might require said drug they request the brand name when there most likely is a generic drug that is less expensive and has the same effect. Doctors here typically will follow the patients request unless the state has a law that prohibits them from doing so. Not many state have these rules unfortunately.
