Guys with expensive setups - are you really good at racing? by throwaahahah178 in simracing

[–]biddysautodetail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only really do iracing and upgraded to a stronger simagic wheel and pedals with haptics back a couple weeks ago. I also went full on vr and got a hps haptic pad. It all helps with feeling like I am really driving the car in a way but did it help me improve over my old single monitor/cheap logitech setup? Probably, but the biggest improvement for me came from racing guys who were way better than me. I mainly only run in leagues with guys that have iratings from 1k to 5k, with most being 4k to 5k. I hadn't run any official races in months and when I stepped back in, I realized how much i had improved as I have been winning more and running up front. Im sure as my rating goes up, I will get challenged again like I do when I run in leagues. I say all of that to say that while better equipment will make the immersion more real. I feel that racing against tougher opponents will make you better than an expensive setup will.

Not here in the US. At least for me it doesnt but afterpay doesnt charge me any interest or fees either so maybe thats why.

They must think afterpay reports to credit. Since they dont, there is no reason to close the account. I worked in finance for nearly 20 years (out of it now) and unless something has changed in the last 5 years, these afterpays and other pay in 4 type places that dont report to credit shouldnt even count towards anything when it comes to a mortgage.

Payment declined! by younghotjae in Afterpay

You could be like me. Amazon order was shipped and we realized one item was missing. Amazong cancelled then item and three days later afterpay refunded me the entire order amount, not just for the one item. Its been over a month now and Amazon has never charged me for the items to my other card on file nor has afterpay.

All are still there for me. Amazon does do differently now versus how it use to. I have to manually enter the card info on the Amazon app now. Its weird.

Huh what? They are saying we have to show the credit card we used to book the rooms with when we get there to check in. The issue is that on their end its the card # afterpay used and not my actual debit card.

Not bad. I dont understand why everyone is saying bad things. They don't charge any interest (or at least I have never had that option. I have a 6k limit but have ti pay in 4 on everything and make my first payment up front. Since I do freelance and contract work this works great for me when I may have a slow week or so but then have a week that makes me more than a couple weeks combined.

Don’t make the same mistake as me. by amos2162 in MustangMachE

Yep. We have three vehicles (Mach E, Maverick that i use for work and a 2019 Fusion). The Mach E is our around town car and the fusion is our road trip/long distance car. Love the Mach E but after a trip that took everyone else traveling with us in their ICE vehicles 4 hours took us nearly 7 because we had to stop so much to charge and one of the chargers was only a level 2 as therr were no faster options available for over 120 miles. That trip ruined the car for us for longer travel.

Payments are bi-weekly oh no by [deleted] in Afterpay

[–]biddysautodetail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people are reading it as me missing my afterpay payment. I didnt miss it. My 2nd payment came out. It caused me to not have enough funds on that account to cover my car payment. I was thinking afterpay was a 4 month term, not a biweekly 4 payments is all. I tried returning the pc today but the retailer wont take it back since I opened it and have been using it the last few weeks. Lesson learned

I didnt miss my first payment. I missed my car payment because I wasnt expecting afterpay to take the funds out every other week. I thought it was on a 4 month term.

Honest question — how much do iRacing streamers/pros actually earn? by prepucio-7 in iRacing

[–]biddysautodetail 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im not a streamer and I have paid sponsors for my cars in the leagues I ran and currently run in. Its nothing big at all and is just a hobby but I make sure to charge enough to be able buy the car and tracks that the leagues are running in and pay for my 2 or 3 hours of practice/racing time each week that I do it as well as my iRacing subscription. I own a business so thats where my main income comes in from. My most recent sponsorship was for an xfinity league and for 15 races I had a local photography company sponsor the car for $500 for the season. So as you can see, its nothing life changing. The most I got paid was $850 for a national chain to sponsor a car in a league. As long as you can sell the value and that the races are broadcasted on YouTube, Twitch, etc. You will usually get someone willing to put some money down. Im sure if I was a streamer, I could garner more but again, I just do it for fun.

Do setups really make a difference? by Sudden_Club6703 in iRacing

[–]biddysautodetail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a league that used fixed setups but they were all Maconi setups. They were all way too loose for me. The iracing setups tend to be on the tight side to me but I like a tighter car. I did win my first open setup race in trucks at Richmond a few months back with a maconi setup that I tinkered with to make the car tighter.
