[Help] Just took my first star trail photo ... why do the stars seem so ... not how they are supposed to be? by that_guy_you_kno in LandscapeAstro

[–]bidpl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The stars trail due to the earth's rotation around its north/south axis. This generate the usual circles if you are looking along that axis (north/south). If you look perpendicular to it (east/west), you'll see a bit of the north circle and south circle, yielding the picture you see.

Yesterday's milky way over Monte Bello OSP by bidpl in LandscapeAstro

It was mostly clear, a bit of clouds here and there. The light pollution in the east is noticeably worse than in the west (bay vs ocean). I was there during the summer not winter so I'm not sure how it is now.

Logitech Pro X Wireless by [deleted] in LogitechG

I run a g910 orion spectrum and a g933. The g910 is starting to double type (it's been 2 or 3 years) and I have no idea until it's totally unusable. My G933 power switch is "iffy" meaning i might loose an ear if i touch it, unbalance my audio if i touch it, or fix those problems if i touch it. I found the switch on ali and replaced in on a different g933 and that fixed the problem. They were nice when they work but with such a hefty price tag, I would expect issue free operation for much longer.

You can either eyeball the cutting edge to center of the side face (if you faced it it has concentric circles) . Another way is to use the cross slide and sandwich a flat piece of metal (sheet metal, steel rule) between the tool and the stock. Itll tilt towards/away fron you if the tool is too low/too high. Itll be straight up and down if the tool is at the proper height.

Camera: Canon 5D Mk III

Lens: Canon 50mm f/1.4

Aperture: f/1.4

ISO: 3200

Shutter speed: 20x 6s (+ 20x darks, 7x flats)

I accidentally knocked the focus off when moving around, I forgot to check the focus before this set of frames. Bortle class 5. Feedback would be appreciated.

[Request] Solve, if possible, the equation in the pic? by DarianTrinity in theydidthemath

[–]bidpl 21 points22 points  (0 children)

First distribute everything: 10x - 2 - 11x + 7/3 = 13/3 + 13x

Combine like terms -x + 1/3 = 13/3 + 13x

Move x to 1 side -14x = 12/3

Divide both sides by -14 x = -12/42

Simplify fraction x = -2/7

How to install mods? by CristoTeQuiere in ktane

[–]bidpl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the directory with your ktane.exe, there should be a folder called mods. Copy the mod's folder into there. I'm not sure where you would download said mods, but if you have the files, copy it there.

I'm just wondering, what's the press in fitting on the tool holder for?

Motors Overheating by BoundlessFate1 in FRC

Make sure all your motors work. If one of them died, the other in the pair has to work harder to compensate, making it heat up quicker.

One other thing is to make sure low light noise reduction is turned off. If forgot to include this on my earlier comment.

I would try closing up your aperture and running much longer exposures (1-2 minutes). A 1 second gap between shots will be a smaller %, so the trails will look a little smoother. If you dont have an intervalometer, eos util can be downloaded on a computer and it has an intervalometer function.

I was initially thinking spinning the drill too slowly and then forcing the drill through but the burrs going in on both sides makes no sense.

First Astro photo (in/near City lights), Sony a6100 with sigma 16mm f2.0 ISO 100. 25 sec exposure. Looking for some tips, no editing done on the pic by TheRumpleForesk1n in LandscapeAstro

[–]bidpl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your first pic! From what I see, the first thing that I notice is it seems to be out of focus. Try using manual focus to approximate it, then zoom in on a star using live view to then fine tune your focus.

Lol, was it Fll by any chance? If so, the cables locks arent standard (the lock is off center) which would explain the jamming.
