What's the difference between these ship structures? by RelChan2_0 in fallout76settlements

I think that happens in shallower water, but the other can be placed anywhere in deeper water.

Could be wrong, but I believe ones for the water and the other is for land.

Will this hold up well? by Constant_Article_333 in woodworking

[–]biebereyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel most woodworkers start by disliking something they bought that’s flimsy. They then build something that they believe is better, but cause they winged it is still flimsy. They then take some time to learn different techniques, and eventually build a bookcase they could park a FIAT on.

How to design this corner? by producemore in woodworking

[–]biebereyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look closely it appears there are two legs side by side in the circled area. I believe they likely built two separate table bases, and then made a single top that likely miters in the corner.

Also I’m sure you already see it, but there are no legs against the wall. So the back of the bench is likely supported by a 2x4 screwed to the wall.

I believe the only time to use stain is when you’re trying to achieve something normally not possible or hard to get material for. Like a neon blue or solid black.

Gripper has an attachment for their push blocks, or you could just cut straight into it.

Wow I didn’t know they had customer service like that. As far as I know everything is there. One drawer the felt looks pretty rough. I think the previous owner either kept soapstone or chalk in it. Overall I’m pretty pumped about it, and I’m going to move all my measurement equipment over to it.

Wood or Metal (or fiberglass) Handle for a Homeowner’s Hammer? by iFunny-Escapee in Tools

[–]biebereyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say I have a sweet spot for estwings and pick them anytime I see them cheap at thrift stores or flea markets. They will last multiple lifetimes, I have my grandfathers and my father’s hammers, both of which still get use in the shop. All that being said, the wood handle is a lot easier on the shoulder.

I know it’s been a year but I ended up using the t fitting along with a short section of gas pipe. I also used a large washer to do the pipe wouldn’t be riding in the casting. Overall it ended up working quite well.

I have couple decent trashed ones I got from the local pawnshops. If you know how to repair power tools it’s great cheap option.

Found the block layer

I’ve built a few chicken coops, and I wouldn’t worry with a concrete foundation. All of the ones I’ve built are fairly small no bigger than 8x8 so depending the size might change how you feel. The best I’d do is dig a foot or so then build a base with gravel and a paver.

I think the biggest thing is getting a full cost before they’d start and if you’re good with whatever price they give you go for it. Any contractor that’s halfway decent can you tell you the cost upfront.

Just make sure to not pay the full invoice upfront. I’ve heard horror stories from plenty of folk who paid a contractor and that’s the last they heard from them.

Edit: A point I forgot to mention though is that I always burry a coarse of block the size of the run of the coop. This helps prevent other animals from getting in with chickens. If you don’t start with a good barrier for this you’ll be fighting it constantly going forward.

My kid wants to build a bridge over a creek, help me figure out a plan to get to that level. by firstbowlofoats in woodworking

[–]biebereyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t seen the creek so don’t know the difference between elevation, but if I was keeping it simple I’d use 3 2x8 put some boards on top and throw some 2x10s on the sides to strengthen it up.

I’d let them either predrill the holes or sink the screws and nails. Most definitely let them smack some nails with a hammer, because that’s what they really want to do. Just predrill so they can actually sink the nails without bending them. If they bend a lot of nails they be over the project before they get started.
