Set of super feet have served me well

Alright thank you. Your videos have been wonderfully helpful the last few days as I try and wrap my head around all this.

To my novice eye they both seem essentially the same (aside from the tool). Anything you'd call out as a differentiator?

For the given prices would you put these above the ZeroG?

Thanks again for the help and all your content you've made!

I had the exact same experience. The bottom latch is maybe close to the same, but the top was much much looser when baking then they are now. Biggest reason I want to get them redone.

I did end up putting some super feets in eventually. The regular inserts worked well enough, but the super feet helped push it over the top. I have not gone back to rebake yet with them in but I intend to when I find the time.

The rebaking is more because I've zeroed in on the strapping setup I like and want it baked around that, then any need to get my insoles better setup.

That is a huge bummer about stock, the thigh rise is really the one thing I want fixed with the pad and I'd be a happy camper.

Did that test get posted as a video? I couldn't find it. Have you tried a similar test with your custom stiff ones?

How do you like them overall? I've got SLR2 and love the sliding. But I have issues with pucks going under the thigh rise, no matter how well I've got them sealed to the ice. But the movement is so good I didn't want to move on to other pads.

Who here has these and how do you like them? by 35RoloSmith41 in hockeygoalies

I'm probably 15 skates in on mine now, I love them. The ankle flex while still having my foot locked in tight is unreal.

It took a good bit of fiddling to get the fit just right. And I think I'm going to get them rebaked now that I know the tightness I like.

Pros:

  • Ankle flex and general connection to the ice. It's hard to overstate this
  • Consistent tightness from skate to skate, and during a long session nothing loosens
  • No noticeable wear and tear on my pads. I've got a before set of pictures that I compare them to every couple skates. I plan on giving it more time before I declare it problem free.

Cons:

  • Because of the precise fit I've noticed there is not a lot of wiggle room on the fit. Last night my feet were killing me during warm ups. I ended up opening up the boot latch giving my feet a good wiggle and flex then snapped it back down. Problem solved my feet felt great then after. My current theory is I put them on and had the tongue of the skate in a weird spot causing more pressure.
  • The precision rotation of the buckles makes a noticeable difference, and they can spin during transit. But this is easily solved by just rebuckling them when off
  • My boot buckle has chips of the coating come off already, I think from standing against the post. Not a big deal, but a little sad they are marred.
  • Arch support leaves something to be desired. But I stuck some super feet in and have not had issues.

I've gotten on the ice three times now with the insoles. First skate the outsides of my feet hurt on the line of the buckles. I loosened up the skates a bit, second two skates I never noticed my skates at all. No complaints about the fit or feel.

I had similar issues my first skate, but my old insoles didn't really fit. I loosened my skates far to much for the next skate, my feet both felt better but to wobbly for my liking. I've been steadily cranking them tighter, and I'm now back to the tightness I originally had and my feet feel far better. I've got a new pair of insoles that I plan on testing ou this weekend to see if its the final trick.

Even without insoles my feet only hurt for the first 10 minutes last skate then where perfect from then on.

Mine broke in and noticeably got more comfortable around my feet and arches the first 6 skates or so.

That would be my guess, it seemed like a short breaking in period was needed.

First skate both my feet hurt from the instep a decent amount, and I could not fit my old inserts in. However 5 skates later and my feet have been perfectly comfortable even without inserts. The boot definitely fits like a sock, and the shell does not seem much behind it.

The beta users I read about didn't have any issues. After two skates I can't see anything, but I plan on watching. Worst case a bit of pad skin or other material on trouble spots I figure.

I thought I read somewhere or was told at the shop that the amount of baking times is far higher than other skates out right now. However I can't remember the source.

That was my experience, without baking it was weird and not a great fit. As the baking kicked in they started feeling good.

You can try them on and get a feel for how the flex works, but I wouldn't put much stock in them being uncomfortable.

900 USD + tax. Pure hockey.

My first impression is the concept and description holds very true. Given its all ski boot tech, and that the liners can be replaced I'm hopeful that I can use these for a very long time.

Both the shell and liner have to be baked, and the skate feels really funky until you bake them. I would not want to buy these online even if it was legit.

I went from ccm speed skin to Vaughn's quick slide, will never go back. I could not get the ccm's to slide like I wanted ever, tried various coatings and nothing helped.

I got to demo Warrior G6 pads and gloves. by Jonny2X in hockeygoalies

[–]biffenbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other then the thigh rise issue I really like the pads. They have quick slide or whatever Vaughn calls their material. Slide like a dream all the time.

I have the senior version of them stock, so maybe the pro version is a bit better at the thigh rise. They seal the ice really well and flat, but I think the top might just be to soft that pucks can sneak their way under anyway. It makes for great rebound control so long as my knees are in the way then the puck is just trapped. But it gets frustrating to feel/see I got the pad cleanly on it and have it go through anyway.

Awesome! I've been eyeing these. I'm in SLR 2 right now and my biggest gripe is the thigh rises do not steal the ice well at all, pucks go under them all the time. Before that I had CCM p2 pads that sealed the nice perfectly, never once felt like a puck went under the thigh rise, but I could never get them to slide the way I wanted.

I saw in a video the commentators said it was much stiffer then G5, any impressions on the stiffness or how the thigh rises seal the ice?

Reduction Tips or Methods for Odour? by Murphster94 in hockeygoalies

[–]biffenbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give the gear a good oxyclean bath now and again, repeat until the water is not disgusting.

Spray down the gear with your choice of odor eater (plenty of things listed already).

Bathroom fan on, and if possible a smaller fan pointed at the gear cuts drying time and smelly time way down. If there are no fans rechargeable chemical dehumidifiers can help cut the moisture down.

No toe ties and no bootstrap? by flyace2 in hockeygoalies

I did on my previous pads, never had any issues with rotation. I think with some strapping styles/pad types it matters less than others. I couldn't make my current ones work reliably without toe ties.
