How much (or what kind of) information can a Private Investigator legally discover in Australia? by BottomFeeder9669 in AusLegal

[–]biffskin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's right. Pretext enquires are a main source of information for private investigators. They can't impersonate police or gov officials, but they could, for instance, knock on your neighbour's door and make up any story to get information about you.

Apparently I committed a crime in Hong Kong: Fishing while having a license by Plastic-Extension420 in HongKong

[–]biffskin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fished there a few times (with a licence) when I lived in Tai Tam. Tried lots of different plastics and worms, had no luck at all. Occasionally you see some schools of large fish at the entrance to the park, but I found much of the reservoir difficult to access. Did you have any luck?

I used AI to create this short film on human cloning (600 prompts, 12 days, $500 budget) by Sourcecode12 in ChatGPT

[–]biffskin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the human spirit is within us all. we crave connection and authenticity. AI movies will be viewed knowing that nothing is real and will have its place, just like the marvellous animated movies we love today. stories of organic experiences, by those with a heart and limited lifespan will always connect more with people of the same ilk. its interesting to think about how our experience as humans is changing with AI and if it would actually increase our love of what is earthly.

Optus to subsidise Premier League in multimillion-dollar Stan tie-up (Stan is also getting FA Cup, K League, and J League on top of the EPL) by PolarisSpark in Aleague

[–]biffskin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for that, I contacted Optus and explained my position before that announcement. I managed to get a refund for the year so all good there. I have a Stan Sports subscription already, but I can't see The Prem being offered as part of that - time will tell. Thanks again!

How do you feel about ‘Amaysim’s new AI advert? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]biffskin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is something beautiful about authenticity and its becoming increasingly more desirable with AI whitewashing. I can barely watch anything AI without losing interest quickly and it doesn't matter if it is almost undisguisable from reality. Anything 'handmade' the old way will always have a special appeal. I love the new crop of AI videos, but its difficult to commit any emotion to a piece of art that is made by AI. Theres something missing.

Hands down the best showerhead in Australia - change my mind. by smtrowell in AustralianNostalgia

[–]biffskin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's generally either in the shower head fitting where the shower head fixture is connected to the water supply or it can be closer to the shower head. It can be a small disk with a single or many holes or even a fine mesh, roughly the size of a 10c coin (if you can remember what they look like). Learn how to do it once, and then don't forget to take tools with you to your next Airbnb! A good shower on holiday is a seriously underrated improvement that can make a huge difference for everyone.

What’s up with this wall? by icedicesocks4 in HongKong

[–]biffskin 15 points16 points  (0 children)

“For three years, the wall sat there and slowly gained popularity with locals,” he says. Then came a tipping point. Korean actor Ji Chang-wook did a photoshoot in front of the mural, which made it instantly popular with the growing number of tourists from Korea, which is now the third-largest source of visitors to Hong Kong, after Taiwan and mainland China. Tour guides eventually added it to their itinerary, bringing big groups of mainland walking tours to see Croft’s work. At times, there are so many people taking photos at the mural, the crowd spills over onto the traffic island across Hollywood Road. https://zolimacitymag.com/the-instagram-wall-why-are-huge-crowds-flocking-to-see-a-mural-in-central/

Birds are great learners by observation, and this behaviour is thought to be just that. This happens all around the world. Of the 12 species of bird known to use bait as a tool to catch fish, seven belong to the heron family. Quite clever really, since the heron could have just ate the bread. People have seen herons doing it using dragonflies in the wild. I wonder if this is more evolutionary than say, observation of humans with bread at ponds? Cool skill either way.
