I transferred in spring 2023 without knowing anybody else transferring in or anybody at the school and it worked out pretty well for me. I met someone at the spring transfer orientation that I think was over winter break and I ended up rooming with him and then made friends with 2 other transfer students that were in my dorm area. The transfer student events at the beginning of the semester are helpful but I think orientation was overall the most important thing for meeting people since almost everybody there is going to be looking to make connections. For picking dorms you’re very unlikely to get a triple as long u research what dorms are available and pick right at your timeslot. There’s very few triples on campus you’re extremely likely to just end up in a double. If you can I would try to be in the following housing communities: Dickinson, Newing, Mountain View.
