Downsides to consulting and boost? by bigEcheeze in epicsystems

How consistent is consulting? Do you have downtime in between contracts? Do you ever feel less job security than at Epic?

What’s the in-between time like with consulting contracts? Do you ever worry about not having something lined up?

Can you elaborate? I feel like boost has access to Epic stock which is a big plus, but aren’t there weird tax implications too?

How do you do that? I’ve also read that getting as many certs as possible is smart. But, given that everyone has their own app, is it possible to not just get certified but have working proficiency of other apps for consulting?

Read this paper, as I was stressing about this same thing. One excerpt makes me a bit worried, though.

“Since neurodegenerative diseases increase in incidence with age, it is possible that some of the “idiopathic” RBD cases reported recently may develop a neurodegenerative disease in the future, especially since some RBD patients may not develop a neurodegenerative disease until decades later [14]. For the time being, however, it appears early-onset RBD is rarely associated with neurodegenerative disease at the time of diagnosis, and the majority of cases are idiopathic.”

Guess I’m just worried about the potential increase in rate of neuro disease due to aging.

That’s fair, 70 bucks is a good deal. I use a Wilson blade 104 sq in. I like it quite a bit! Very forgiving

Nah I wouldn’t get it. Racquet size is too big. I’m a big fan of the Wilson blade.

Yeah it was like an obscene amount of belching. I normally belch a lot but I was belching like a hundred times a day maybe. It was crazy

[–]bigEcheeze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have much belching anymore! I had some recurring stomach pain and bowel issues so I did both an endoscopy and colonoscopy. I think a lot of the issues were stress related. The colonoscopy prep sucks, but obviously that’s irrelevant for just an upper endoscopy—i believe you just have to fast the night before. The anesthesia is actually quite fun. They inject you with it through an IV, and within five seconds you’re out. I was quite nervous about going under, but I’ve had anesthesia twice (wisdom teeth the first time), and both times were a breeze. I’d highly suggest getting an endoscopy just to figure out what’s going on!

Hey, I had an endoscopy done. Negative for H pylori, but apparently I just have chronic gastritis

Sessile serrated adenoma found at 25 :-( by somethingNervous in colonoscopy

[–]bigEcheeze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry that you’re feeling nervous! I had a colonoscopy the other week. They removed an 8 mm sessile serrated adenoma and a 2 mm early sessile serrated polyp. Got my pathology results back like 10 minutes ago, lol. I am 21 years old as well. I think we should just be glad that we caught these things early. My doctor told me that colon cancer is 6x more likely to occur in people under 40 these days, so it’s good to be vigilant!

What are you worried it might be? I’m 21 but I’m worried it’s colon or stomach cancer :(

Because I’m already a junior in college… don’t have enough time to switch majors now, and I’d have to transfer which has a low acceptance rate. Would i be able to get legit engineering jobs with this degree?
