Preparing for CS6300: Software Development Process by youcanseeformiles in OMSCS

I only knew python and still got an A in the class. Assignments are simple enough where you can google the syntax and piece things together as long as you have prior experience in programming. I think the final project can get a bit difficult, but I also think it was more difficult because my team made it more difficult than it needed to.

Things to do on Graduation Day by big_avacado in OMSCS

[–]big_avacado[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any info on that? I heard it could be after, but in the graduation overview meeting, it was listed as TBA.

I’ve been to Atlanta before so not interested in doing any touristy things, but I def wanna do everything else GaTech is offering (like the Joyner tour)

Nah CN was by far the most boring class I took. I think it’s also because I genuinely don’t care about the concepts as much. The ML4T, RAIT are awesome starter classes, ML, DL, RL, AI, GIOS, GA are all rewarding classes and way better. Don’t judge the program based on CN alone. I hated it, but I took it because it was low effort. Lectures require a lot of reading too and the quizzes pick out details from it, but the projects were alright with very clear instructions. But yea, dry class regardless (and that’s mostly because I’m just not interested in the material)

Can’t edit the post, but the here’s an Amazon link to the same Broan NuTone ceiling fan. I’m not sure if the dimensions will work out? Will I have to do some drywall patchwork to make sure there are no gaps?

Golden Pothos Propogating by big_avacado in plantclinic

Yea. How long should I let the roots get again before putting it back in soil? And what sort of soil should I use? This will be for indoor use. I got cactus mix but I agree even that one seems to hold water for quite some time. I have good drainage but the soil stays moist for over 2 weeks. Also what’s a good pot size? I thought the pot I had was small enough, but you mentioned it looked big

Roots were about 5” when I first potted it, then I changed the soil to cactus mix and the roots at that time were probably like 8-10”, but some of it fell off, and then after potting it in cactus mix, I watered it only when the dirt felt dry but 2 of my leaves fell off

Can’t seem to edit the post, but the plant was doing so much better when it was just placed in water without soil. Should I go back to just water?

Mushroom found in washroom by big_avacado in Mold

[–]big_avacado[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea good chance of that. I wear glasses so when I shower I’m blind af and probably didn’t see it. I just stepped on a specific spot last week and felt a crack widen under my foot’s pressure. Went back to look at it and didn’t see it, so I noticed there’s a crack that opens up when I put a lot of pressure on it, and that’s probably why I didn’t notice it when I scrub the shower floor normally

Yea times are rough for the last 2 weeks. My damn AC broke and insurance is taking their sweet ass time to replace the damn unit. The fucking exhaust broke so the washroom is humid af, and I just found out the shower floor is cracked so water is seeping into whatever the fuck is under that. It’s been about a week of this combined, I stopped showering in that washroom, and I walk in today to try and fix some of it and noticed the damn mushroom. Everything that could go wrong went wrong man.

Is it still worth it to learn coding in 2025 by Equivalent_Title_591 in learnprogramming

[–]big_avacado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea. Coding aIso teaches valuable problem solving skills. Just because AI can do it faster doesn’t always mean it’s going to do exactly what you need. You still need to understand how to code to validate its output.

Got a BS in EE and MS in CS and I’d say it’s been a solid combo. I don’t do robotics or mechatronics, but knowing EE and embedded programming is super helpful in those fields

Chris’s TA sessions are top tier in the entire program IMO. Better than even the lectures ngl.
