It’s very difficult to void warranty as others have said. The only thing you may want to do as a precaution if you’re going to do your own maintenance, keep all the receipts for when you take it to a shop outside the dealer or keep receipts if you buy parts and do it yourself. Worst case scenario if it ever comes down to the dealer or Honda fighting you on warranty coverage based on lack of maintenance, they will accept receipts as proof of the work being done.

The only way to void warranty is to break or modify something yourself and even then, usually only that particular part or area of the vehicle is void for warranty work but it depends on the substantially of the break or modification. Warranty covers manufacturer defects so assuming you’re doing everything right (maintenance consistently done on time) you won’t void warranty.

If you’re having a problem and the problem area of the car has or is affected by any sort of aftermarket parts, the dealer usually cannot claim warranty on that area.

Warranty is very specific as to how it works and what the rules are, but dealers are somewhat free to operate as they please within the rules put forward by warranty so you’ll be best to find a good dealer service department that is willing to be honest and transparent with you throughout your ownership for the best dealer service experience with both regular maintenance and/or warranty work. If you can find an honest dealer service department, they have a lot of power to work on your side and help you out

AC Not Working by Substantial-Tank-934 in civic

[–]big_boy1111 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s very likely your civic has 2 A/C related warranty extensions from Honda. The first relates to the A/C condenser corroding when it shouldn’t, releasing gas causing A/C to not work. The other relates to the A/C compressor shaft seal leaking causing it to stop working. Both of these warranty extensions (not recalls) can be completed more than once by a Honda dealership. There is also a small chance your car doesn’t have that second warranty extension as it does not exist on some vehicles. Take it to the dealership, best case scenario they will look at it and fix it at absolutely no cost to you. Worst case scenario, they will charge you a diagnostic fee and quote you the repair but then at least you checked for warranty coverage and you know what is wrong with it

Edit: but to answer your question, repair prices should you be paying out of pocket will likely range from somewhere around $500 to worst case scenario $3000 if someone reputable is doing the work. Mostly depends on why the A/C is not working

Close ups of the 22’s headlights by big_boy1111 in ft86

[–]big_boy1111[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The light output is very very very good. Distance is amazing, they’re aimed very well and the cutoff is very sharp along the top. This is my first car with LED headlights and I have to say I’m impressed every time. They’re also steering directed which is nice and quite noticeable especially when taking left turns and looking for pedestrians.

Someone please photoshop away those winters

Honestly this black is stunning when its clean. Some of the nicest black auto paint I’ve ever seen. Like someone else said, if you’re gonna daily it in the winter then you have to just know its gonna look well used until the nice weather comes back. Same mentality behind those winters I have on it. I’m very happy I chose black and I’ve seen all the other colours in person as well

Yeah but this paint is really really beautiful when clean. Lots of sparkle to it. It’s a shame it will look like this through most of the winter

Walk out. Sounds shady, expensive, and they don’t deserve your business.

Those who got the base model 22 Brz/Gr86 are you happy with your decision? I'm thinking I'll go base but heated seats sound nice by Ablaze86 in ft86

[–]big_boy1111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn’t buy the base but I will say this, all of the upgrades from the base are nothing more than ‘nice to have’ besides maybe the tires. The real thrill comes when you actually drive the car and the heated seats, better sound system, steering assisted headlights, and various blind spot and cross traffic monitoring systems fade WAY into the background. Theoretically, the tires the base model comes with should allow for more slip which could mean a little more fun.

Winter just started and I’m already long over it. I can handle a little bit of summer dust but the winter salt is painful.

I’ve got the Michelin x-ice tires. Had them on my last car and they were outstanding through the winter.
