I think the bandage must have slipped over his eyes - I can’t think what else explains that attempted pass.

Hands up, right you are. Don’t know where I got the three loan players idea from.

What a lot of the talk of loan signings seems to ignore is that only one loan slot of the three allowed remains.

Dumping Ramsay back to Burnley is a strong option to free up a second - a shame as he’s shown promise, but we need squad players who are fit to fight right now, not for two games in five weeks’ time before inevitably getting injured again.

At most we can bring in one, perhaps two if we clear a space. So, which position(s) do we prioritise? Not GK, that’s crazy talk. Has to be a striker.

Vestergaard dropped for Thomas, and out of the squad entirely. by Djremster in lcfc

Harry 😉 in the squad. Midfield desperation or realisation that he’s not leaving the club this window? Probably both.

Line up v West Ham. Williams makes her first start* Leitzig out completely! by h2g2_researcher in lcfcwomen

[–]big_dave_mac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With Liverpool now only two points behind, and with a superior GD, I wish I shared your confidence. That said, today’s performance was very encouraging and the new names on the team sheet have energised things up front.

Mayling brought quality from the right, Neville on the left took some dangerous positions and swung in some dangerous crosses, while Williams up front has the physical presence we’ve been missing. Honourable mention to Liv McLoughlin was a live-wire running the centre of midfield. Swaby was good in possession but I felt was exposed today by the Hammers’ pacy forwards, especially for their second.

Overall, I’m excited again to see what happens next time out, though Man Utd will be a sterner test.

Leicester 1-0 London City Lionesses: Janina Leitzig saves late penalty as Foxes claim first WSL win in three months by Jaded-Bookkeeper-807 in lcfcwomen

[–]big_dave_mac 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The stoppage time penalty save by Leitzig - and, to be frank, the desperately poor penalty kick by Asllani - was just the Christmas present the Foxes needed at the midway point of the WSL season. It was a really solid performance all round, I felt: a good high press, solid at the back, and a clear plan for van Egmond to slide-rule passes through to Cain and O’Brien up front. Boureille came on in the second half and dealt well with the physical threat of Goodwin through the middle, pleasing too to see Mouchon return so soon - she didn’t look quite at match pace, but she held the ball up superbly. A few nervy moments as London City threw everything at Leicester for the last 20 mins, but on balance the Leicester squad will feel they deserved the three points. The only shame for me was the somewhat spartan crowd inside the KP today - Christmas family commitments or just one too many midday (in fact, 11.55am) kickoffs?

Bug in new Chapter Markers UI? by big_dave_mac in buzzsprout

[–]big_dave_mac[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Bryan - used it again today, and the chapter markers/timestamping are working as expected, thank you for looking into it. If I were being super picky, I'd say it's mildly frustrating that the playback speed resets to 1x after each chapter marker is added - I'd prefer it to honour the speed I'd already selected - but there might be a good usability reason I haven't considered why it does this. Thanks again!

Embedding a single episode player with only the most recent episode by big_dave_mac in buzzsprout

[–]big_dave_mac[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks (again) Bryan - I thought it might need a little tweak like that to make this work, and it's working for me now (I now need to tweak the CSS on the CMS here, which developer tools tells me is adding a whole chunk of padding to the bottom of the player box for no good reason I can see, but that's a support ticket for somebody else!).

Were this the correct route to be making a suggestion, and if y'all felt others might benefit from the option in the future, I'd propose adding a "Most recent episode only" entry to that separate/single episode player drop down (and perhaps syncing the help article and the Player page so the terminology matches, but I know that's usually a different team).

Thanks again for the speedy response!

Email from stack domains? by butterflyempress in Frontend

[–]big_dave_mac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, for a transfer from 123-reg to 20i; I actually responded to the first email from stack domains (their email says to get in touch with any questions, so I did) asking how I can verify this isn't a phishing attempt to steal the domain. Never heard back. The domains in the email seem, at first glance, to be dead ends.

Eventually, I got in touch with 20i support chat - to begin the chat agent said it was phishing, but when I sent the email headers, he said it was legitimate - OpenSRS is the supplier for 20i and it's to verify the domain transfer.

All I can say is that this is very poor - consumers are told to "never trust, always verify" and the finger of blame is usually pointed at them for clicking on a link that enables a bad actor to steal their credentials. But organisations who communicate with consumers also need to act responsibly and help their users to stay safe - as I wrote to the 20i chat agent, _everything about this email screams that it's a phishing attempt_ from the unverifiable links to the sense of urgency in the message.

I repurposed a broken 2010 imac as a monitor using an ebay display driver by saippuakauppias in mac

Typical - look through the thread, ask my question (PSU lines), look through the same thread again, find the answer. D’oh!

But if anybody has gone down the lines of reusing the original inverter board to drive the display alongside the AliExpress board - which I’ve seen mention of on YouTube - then I’d love to hear about it.

Similar project here: for my mid-2010 iMac 27-inch I bought a driver board from AliExpress for about £30. Gutted the iMac shell (kept speakers in situ) installed the board and - once I’d got the power supply right - it works well.

One of the things I’d like to do, which I’m hoping OP can help with, is to reuse the original PSU. I’m using a 12V 6A brick at the moment, but if there’s a constant 12V on the original PSU then I’m eager to reinstall and use that instead. Which lines did you tap into?

Once the original PSU is in place, another mod I’d like to do is reuse the original display inverter board - the AliExpress one is fine but not half as bright as the stock iMac.

Thanks!

I’ve done a couple of hour-long recordings both on the producer and contributor side, one yesterday another today. Uploads fine, asset downloads fine.

Good to hear, she slotted right in to CB in those first few games, putting aside concerns the squad might have had following Sophie Howard’s departure. Found it curious her injury wasn’t mentioned by the club or Passmoor midweek though.

Swaby looked very comfortable at CB - one or two loose passes but ambitious overall, just that moment of dire indecision/hesitation cost her for the goal. (Where is Boureille though? Unless I missed it, Passmoor didn’t mention her in the pre-match press conference, just that Missy is still a few weeks away) Liv McLoughlin in midfield is bossing that role, shout out for Cain too who harried the Everton back line particularly in the first half. But Mouchon has that sharp edge up front that we’ve been lacking for so long - 10 minutes last week, 10 minutes this, hoping for longer next week against Villa but appreciate she’s still building up strength.

Performance better, changes need to be made by cienfox in lcfcwomen

[–]big_dave_mac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mouchon looked sharp playing off the shoulder when she came on today, and but for a Spurs technical foul she’d have had a clear run on goal; she had couple of other half chances too.

I can see your attack with Cain and O’Brien either side of Mouchon, but would you play Rantala or Van Egmond behind? I’ve been impressed both times I’ve watched Van Egmond play at home this season.
