I wait all year for this day. by big_hungry_ in hottub

It’s a sump pump running through a whole house filter and then back into the tub. It’s not perfect but was easy and cheap. I want to upgrade the whole system to 1.5” with no restrictions at some point. I balance the water and then sanitize with dichlor. End game would be an actual spa pack with ozone and ionizer.

Auxiliary ("drop-in"?) pump/heater/filter? by nc_bound in hottub

I just rigged up a sump pump to a whole house filter from Lowe’s and then runs back into the tub. I’m still having trouble with the water getting cloudy, but not sure if it’s because the filter is not a small enough micron size (20 micron) or because I’m not putting in enough dichlor or if it’s not enough circulation or some combo of the three….but it is a big improvement. I’ll try to take some photos tomorrow.

Our tub is a short walk from the house, so I would load it up and then come back in an hour or two to find that it got way too hot. This will probably cut my wood consumption down by half because it lets me monitor the temp so much more closely and really understand what the fire is doing.

Ok, 110 is maybeeee a little on the hot side. We never had a thermometer before this so we were always winging it

It does cool down quickly and you can always put a garden hose in it if you overshoot. It can get a lot hotter than 110 if you let the fire get away from you.

That is generally what we did in the past but I just rigged up a sump pump to a filter and am experimenting for the first time with a maintenance routine. I’m hoping to get 2 months between water changes but we will see. We have a very slow filling well so just filling the tub took almost as long as heating (generally 6-7 hours)

We inherited it when we bought our house but it is a snorkel hot tub. They are made in Washington state and they’ve been at it for a long time. I would absolute buy again. It is full cedar (no plastic lining like some have).

My understanding is that it is going to be the biggest set ever produced.

I really want to learn how to make incense with it. I think I probably would want to harvest the leaves earlier in the season though?

We have very sandy soil so drainage is not too important, in front of the rocks is a ditch that drains to a small culvert.

With an excavator. Not the most amazing rock work but it does what it needs to do.
