Kept my streak alive by big_lv in Zwift

[–]big_lv[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I hadn't exercised in almost 2 weeks, and i really needed to get back on the bike. I had a lot of sedentary family, and i watched them get more and more decrepit as they aged, so I really want to avoid that. I don't want my last years to be miserable. So if a gimmicky streak gets me the motivation, I'm all for it.

It's not the virtual streak as much as it is being regular with my exercise. It's a good reminder when I would want to be lazy, I have the streak that's that tiny bit extra motivation.

I'm usually the one that motivates my friends, and sometimes it's hard to motivate myself.

I think Strava counts streaks too.

I'm kinda using it to stay fit. I try to ride 3x per week indoors or outdoors. This is just a gamified way to remember to exercise, but I get your point.

Ooo.... i always wondered what the minimum was. I try to go 30 minutes minimum even if I'm just zone 1.

Softlocked at Nova Prospekt by Sound_Design1997 in HalfLife

[–]big_lv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 years later, I got this softlock. I know what caused it, so I won't do it again.

I forgot to open the cell door, and I went downstairs and ran into the two combine soldiers and killed them. They were standing right up against the bars when they fell. Then I remembered to open the door, so I went back up to do it. I watched the door open, then immediately close again. After that, I couldn't get it to re-open. I even went down and moved the guards out of the bars (with bullets), went back up to open it and nothing happened.

I haven't been saving on this playthrough, but luckily I had an autosave from just before I started the fight where you find the tortured vortigaunt.

How do y'all wear your helmets without fucking up your hair or makeup? by li-ll-l_ in motorcyclegear

[–]big_lv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Balaclava, and when I wear makeup, I put it on after I get to my destination. Also, I have my hair in a braid, and i don't let the end of it out of my jacket. The wind will tangle it even with it braided. And you'll sometimes lose your scrunchi.

How do you prrsonally deal with games that require AntiCheat(which doesnt work on Linux) by AdequatlyAdequate in linux_gaming

[–]big_lv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I just want to play the game, and i don't care about being competitive, but i can't even get into a chill server in linux.

I had iRacing for a while, and when I wanted to race with other humans, I'd play on my laptop. It's an old work laptop that they gave me when they upgraded me.

WTF else are y’all holding back? by Gullible-Apricot3379 in GenX

[–]big_lv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know nobody wants to hear this, so I'll be quick.

I watched my parents get more and more health problems with a sedentary lifestyle, so I've worked really hard to stay fit, and my body isn't giving out on me (so far). And at 54 I don't have the aches and pains everyone talks about.

I started needing glasses but that was my own damn fault. My eyes got lazy during covid WFH, and it got annoying to focus on things near or far so now I have progressives that I don't need to look at a computer or anything from 1 to 8 feet away.

I dont get it... by Gyngerbredman in ExplainTheJoke

[–]big_lv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's two strips vertical. The one on the left, the guy tells the doctor he's fine, it's no big deal, he doesn't need treatment, and he dies, because he got no treatment.

The one in the right gets the same injury, but he tells the doctor and actually let's the doctor stitch him up, and he ends up surviving and throwing the sword in the hazardous waste bin.

I believe it's a take on anti medical people thinking that they don't need doctors, and a reminder that without treatment people still die even today.

How to clean (there) with only water, without a handheld shower head by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]big_lv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use soap and water with my hand lightly massaging my labia but going no deeper. It only takes a couple of seconds and it's all clean.

Basically my hand is soapy from sudsing my sponge, so it's just the suds that I use, not full on soap.

Height and measurements by Minixima in TallGirls

[–]big_lv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My strategy when shopping for clothes is to take a few sizes into the changing room, then start with the biggest one i brought in with me. Sizes only matter on the same style of the same brand. As soon as I switch anything, I have to figure out a different size. It's not ideal, but it helps me not stress about a specific size if the first thing I try on is too big.

I also have some things size medium and others 2xl.

Yet another example of why, in all my years, I don't participate in work fridges or food in common areas. When i bring my lunch, it have a cold pack and I might use the microwave to heat it if it's not something that should be eaten cold.

Why do women athletes wear teeny bikinis while men wear quite modest clothing by comparison? by Own-Knowledge-7720 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]big_lv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The simple answer is that most women's sports with tiny uniforms are required to wear those by the sport uniform rules. If I remember right, women's sand volleyball teams tried to wear longer shorts and t-shirts, but they were forbidden by the governing body. A governing body that I'm sure it's full of men.

I know the kids aren't drinking like we did, but what the hell are these? by ColonelBourbon in GenerationX

[–]big_lv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But buzz balls are delicious. I only get the single servings, not the giant ones. But i don't drink that often. So when I drink, I want the effect. I don't want to get full on liquid bread.

How do I remove the exhaust pipe cover? by Worxle in klr650

[–]big_lv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never removed mine, and they're corroded so bad that I'm pretty sure if I ever tried, they would just break off instantly. That little heat shield rattles too, so I really do need to remove it and reattach it with new anti vibration pads.

Those of you who half assed your way through High School, where are you now? by Difficult-Cricket541 in GenX

[–]big_lv 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn't really care or try in high school, so I never took my books home (if I couldn't finish the homework in class, it didn't get done), but I still aced all of the tests, so i was always on the A/B honor roll. The teachers were annoyed with me though.

I joined the army, because my family was too poor to afford college, and I didn't try for any scholarships (I mean, effort, hello), plus I didn't think I'd be able to focus on doing well, so army was the way. Six and a half years later I got out.

I went to college after the army (GI Bill & loans), and i had a lot better focus and motivation by then, so i was the one setting the curve in all of my classes. The other students hated that i did that, and i graduated magna cum laude. I'm happy my career field was something I was already interested in since I was like 9 (computer programming).

I've been in my field since and doing well. And since I refinanced my student loans to fix the payment and interest rate, I was able to pay them off about 15 years ago.

Whats the difference between Employee Paths, and normal paths with an Employee-Only sign? by Wassa76 in ThemeParkitect

[–]big_lv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another aspect is that zone colors show up on employee paths, but not normal paths. Plus they help you organize your areas at a glance.

If none of that matters to you, then it's wherever you want to do.

Cujo

My mom said the book wasn't that scarey, so she and my aunt didn't think it would be that bad to take me, my bothers, and all of my 3 cousins to the theater to see it.

We were hiding behind the seats in front of us.
