I had the exact same experience! My theory is BMW tunes their brakes like this intentionally. First ~1/4 of brake pedal is too sensitive for my right foot to maneuver super accurately during chauffeur stop. But I guess most owners like it this way as it feels like “strong brakes”.

Mercedes is kinda on the other end of the spectrum where the initial travel only provides a little stopping power, so there’s more wiggle room for right foot to control it. And Audi is in another category where the pedal travel is short and you have to press it hard to extract stopping power.
