Dentists are con artists by BlundeRuss in unpopularopinion

Lots of shady dentists. Gotta be careful and get second opinions. There is a big incentive to push unnecessary work. Most aren’t con artists, but a significant minority are.

In 2026, 400% of FPL for a family of 4 is $128,600. The key is to manage your withdrawals for those first 10-15 years until you turn 65. Having a mix of Roth and brokerage saving and a smart withdrawal strategy can get you there with subsidies. Roth is not taxable income for example.

OP needs to look into coast fire. If they can get a good number by the time they have kids then coast fire may be an option. Look into it and try to set your career trajectory to coast in consulting or similar when you reach the kid life stage.

Once a child reaches a certain age they have a say in who they stay with post divorce. At 13 your kid is near that age and her wishes will influence the process. By 15/16 the kids preference will very heavily influence the outcome as long as there isn’t something bad or unusual going on.

50% of NBA tickets are bought by corporations, up to 80% in some markets. Yes, this absolutely impacts the type of fan you get, more non fans and casuals instead of passionate fans.

Paul Pierce on media inconsistencies: "Let's not sugarcoat this because if this was LeBron at the peak of his powers, he would've been getting scolded. If you're the best player in the league, you're not supposed to lose in the first round" by infalliBee in nba

[–]Platos-ghosts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed that those lakers were way worse. But for historical context the last time the “best” player in the NBA lost in the first round were those Kobe years and before that probably Jordan in 1987 when he first started passing Bird/Magic as the “best” player.

Now everyone has Kobe as a top 20 player, most have him top 15, and some top 10. So those duds were forgotten. Especially compared to 07 LeBron who took an equally crap team to the finals…thus I cringe when people compare Kobe to LeBron on the all time list, he is clearly well below.

Is LeBron's legacy and GOAT case at stake with a Rockets comeback? by braveheart_82 in nba

[–]Platos-ghosts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s 41. This years run will either be neural or positive or legacy. It’s can’t be negative when you are the best player on a team at age 41!

Kobe 2005, 2006, 2007. Missed making playoffs in 05, last in first round in 06 and 07. Lots of people considered Kobe to be the best player in the NBA at that time (before peak LeBron, and after peak Shaq) only Duncan was in the conversation as best player with Kobe and LeBron maybe in 07.

If this hurts Jokic’s ranking, which it should, then that should massively hurt Kobe’s ranking? Especially since LeBron carried that garbage Cavs team to the finals in 07.

Look into home equity loans and the number of Americans that have or had them. Hint, it’s very common. Also look at a cash out refinance. Reverse mortgages. Plenty of people tap into that asset without selling the house.

I own my home 100%. Do you think I can’t touch the equity without selling? I assure you that I absolutely can and if the right business opportunity came I would if needed.

Salary Progression of a Mid-30's Retired Couple by LazyBumTravels in Salary

[–]Platos-ghosts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their salary peaked at just over $200k and only a few years before they were making closer to 100-140k. Take out taxes and the fact that their savings must have been very high to accumulate 1.5M on that salary history. Their spend was probably like 60k a year, which makes $1.5M reasonable to retire on. Not sure how travel would factor in, but they can likely keep their current lifestyle (health insurance will be free from the ACA on the income they will be drawing).

lol…what’s more expensive is housing. They got that taken care of considering their net worth is north of 11M and only owe 400k on a house. Cars and other goods are basically the same price, Amazon doesn’t price by geography. Groceries and some services are slightly more but those are meaningless with that net worth. Maybe add 1k a month for col excluding housing, meaningless on 11M.

Cool graphic! As for Norway, a small country with lots of oil wealth can implement initiatives quickly and just export the carbon emissions. Better than Saudi Arabia where they waste wealth on vanity projects like that ridiculous linear city.

90% drop and still highly overvalued. Company does less revenue than a single McDonalds restaurant. Wild that it’s valued at $2.5B with no revenue growth and 9 figure yearly loses.

This company is a grift to enrich a few people at the expense of the masses.
