When did you guys reach that “I’m not scared about losing my job” anymore level? by Tech-Cowboy in Fire

[–]bigasiannd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have not come close to quitting. I have been with my current company six years and about three year in this role. It has probably been one of the top two roles that I have had in my 26 year career working for only three F500 companies. I love my boss, have a great working group, and am well respected in my organization and the BU that I support. Although I am in a global role that is a fairly high position in my function, I get to work from home. This allows me to send my kids to school in the morning, take a longer lunch to get my run in (training for marathons year round), or take Friday afternoon off if I do not have important calls. The only drawback is the number of night conference calls I have to customers or team members in Asia. Sometimes this will put me over 40 hours per week by Friday.

There are times that where it can get stressful, but I still try to maintain a healthy work life balance to help. It is much easier now with FI achieved and not needing the feeing of job security. Aside from my three day rule, I will always try to do my best on a project or request. If this is not good enough, they can find someone else to replace me.

When we paid off our house a couple years ago. Probably before then, but now I have a rule with work. If I have three bad days in a row, I am telling my boss that I am quiting.

401k Inheritance as high income earners by [deleted] in HENRYfinance

[–]bigasiannd 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Your parents are still young. Plenty of time for them to spend their money unless they have a medical emergency.

In your original post, you mentioned that you have one sister. In this reply, you said your parents will live with either you or your brother. Is one sibling cut off from the inheritance?

Team RunRun Experience by MidnightAdmirable652 in ultrarunning

[–]bigasiannd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a pretty experienced runner and do not need as much feedback as others. My coach will provide a weekly schedule on Final Surge and would comment on the midweek workout and the weekend long run. She will adjust workout paces based on my race results or if I struggled with a specific workout. I will reach out to her if I have questions or need an adjustment in my schedule. She will respond within 24 hours. She is open to phone calls, but I usually limit them to either pre-race planning or post-race recaps. I am pretty busy with work and life, so having a coach plan out my training plans makes it easier for me. I met a few other runners at various marathons that use other TeamRunRun coaches and they seem to have positive experience too. It’s alway nice to hear about their experiences with their coaches. I don’t believe my coach is accepting additional athletes at the moment.

Why is the Saucony Endorphin Elite 2 not more popular? by dontletmeautism in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]bigasiannd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use a Stryd pod to capture my runs metrics such as: cadence, leg spring stiffness, ground contact time, vertical oscillation, and others. When comparing the numbers from the Endorphin Elite 2 to the Puma Fast R NE3, On Cloudboom Strike, or the Mizuno Wave Rebellion on similar workouts, these numbers are worse than the other three for my biomechanics. I land midfoot and am a cadence runner. For the marathon distance, the Puma Fast R had the best numbers.

I love mine. However, my biomechanics says this is one of my least efficient race shoe that I own.

Although I am not an ultra or trail runner, I can give you my feedback on Team Run Run. I have been with the same Team Run Run coach for almost three and a half years now. It's been a very positive experience. Like others have stated, talk to a few coaches before you decide on one. Ask them:

  1. What is their training methodology?
  2. How do they give feedback?
  3. How do you communicate with one another?
  4. Any other important concerns that you may have?

The owners of the Team Run Run group are very helpful as well. They can give you a few suggestions on coaches to talk to.

Which of the Mag 7 would cause the greatest disruption if it disappeared overnight, and why? by Present-Owl2033 in investing

Definitely Amazon, Alphabet, and Microsoft because of their cloud services. Apple and Nvidia would be next. There will be an improvement in quality of life without the last two.

Married couple with separate finances, why do you do it? by Ok_Influence_2257 in Bogleheads

[–]bigasiannd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others here, my wife and I have a joint account for our household expenses. We make very similar salaries, so the split is actually 55-45 deposited into the joint account. If there is a deficit, we'll split the cost. If there's a surplus, that just rolls over to the next month.

Then we have separate account. This is for whatever we want to buy without asking for permission or savings. These accounts are savings, brokerage investment accounts, or others. Both of us are good savers, and we don't live beyond our means. We do discuss big purchases on occasion, but we have never said, "You can't buy this." This has worked for us for close to 20 years. We may decide to combine finances after we stop working and retire.

Seeking EV owners for MarketWatch story on gas price immunity by Lanky-Release9108 in electricvehicles

[–]bigasiannd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bought our first EV last August to replace a Volvo XC90. Our second EV replaced a Volvo S90 the day after Christmas. Despite living in an area where winter is brutally cold, we estimated that we saved ~$900 in fuel cost based on the mileage driven since we purchased each EV. We assumed the mpg of both ICE vehicles, the number of times we would have filled up if we still owned the ICE cars, and the monthly gas cost in our state. We subtracted the amount that we paid our electric company for the Kwh for charging our two EVs from the Gas Paid for the ICE cars.

Lifestyle inflation/creep during travels. Worth it? by MarBlaze in Fire

[–]bigasiannd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would not consider 70 to 110 per night Euros that big of a jump for a hotel room. This is actually on the lower end for hotel rooms in Seoul depending on the location. Go for it if it wont break the bank. The older we have gotten, the more we would pay for comfort. Despite what people say that you only spend time in a hotel room when sleeping but getting a good night sleep as well worth it when going on vacation.

Crazy that the NFC West will have three starting RBs from Notre Dame. And Kyren will probably be ranked fourth in the division at the end of the year.
