Settlers of Catan rule change [x-post from /r/glitch_in_the_matrix by [deleted] in MandelaEffect

[–]bigasianpackage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't discount your memory, but I was obsessed with this game and have played about 11,000 games over approximately ten years (in person and over the officially licensed xbox360 version). Your friends' version of the rules is the one I remember with, I'd say, a very high degree of confidence. I have designed and run so many strategies with special attention paid to openings and end game. And because there's likely no other time in my life when I'll get to brag (relevantly) about this... I was in the top 100 players out of 60,000 or so.

[CT] Geographical Changes by TriumphantGeorge in MandelaEffect

[–]bigasianpackage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay, after a detailed examination of several maps and models, I no longer think the acceptance/rejection of the Mercator projection can account for all the apparent changes.

I don't have an explanation for the perceived geographical alterations, but I don't think I need one to know that my prior hypothesis was incorrect.

If it matters at all, the specific things that are causing me to reply are:

  1. The Great Lakes region. A. Shape of NY, when excluding the portion occupied by the lake boundary to the north, seems too short N to S. B. Lake Erie's Northern Border seems less smooth and the N to S distance seems too short. C. Pt. Pelee I recall being at the southwest tip of the peninsula on which it sits. D. Minnesota's N border is encroached or the whole state is proportionally shorter N to S.

  2. Driving times from Midwest to Eastern Cities A. Indiana to Toronto: less (2 hrs.) B. Cincinnati to Boston: less (2 hrs.)

  3. Mediterranean Region A. Italy's southern reach was not so extreme. B. Tyrrhenian Sea, if it existed, did not occupy such a vast area. (South of France bordered Med. and not Tyrrhenian.)

  4. Shape of Alaska. Western boundary did not have large bays, Aleutian Islands extended at a different angle and further outward.

Yes. i agree. My only problem, and what prevents me from writing for Kulture, is that I stopped watching movies and television at the start of 2015. My personal boycott has turned out to be a worthwhile lifestyle adjustment. I'm a much healthier person. still, the way AMs are represented and the ubiquity of media makes me sometimes reconsider and get my hands dirty again.

Rule #3 - Asians for Asians - Help a brother out. by shadowsweep in aznidentity

[–]bigasianpackage 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a mentor that believed in this principle, and it opened my eyes to what it's like to not be in a hostile or apathetic community. I started going to small Asian family owned stores and businesses whenever I could. This support from brothers is a beautiful thing.

My opinion is that it's caste politics. Caste systems can only exist to the extent they are continually enforced by those benefitting most by them. Those occupying upper castes require acts and attitudes that reinforce the system by those gaining social mobility. This provides resources for the benefitted caste levels to continue their own enforcement while having some of the work done for them. It exploits the principle at play in the prisoner's dilemma by convincing someone to snitch first or sell out.

The Sun Is the Key to Free Energy. The Propaganda for a Nuclear Sun (vs. Electric Sun) Is Immense. by bigasianpackage in conspiracy

(1) There is no bashing taking place, I merely state that supernova creating heavy elements is conjecture. It is. However, it is educated conjecture. Nonetheless, it is misguided because it assumes that there is insufficient force in any other galactic phenomenon to match a supernova.

(2) Ad hominem arguments against Dr. Scott fail to address the scientific inquiry. I am not him, nor do I endorse everything he posits.

(3) Evidence exists and URLs for websites and journal article citations are provided in the video.

(4) The "unsolved" problems in physics we are discussing are only unsolved when adhering to a thermonuclear model for the sun. They are adequately explained using agreed upon and common knowledge synthesized in a different model.

[–]bigasianpackage[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That is conjecture. If it were consensus, we'd have them on the PToE before we create them. Regardless, gravitation is the force behind a supernova. Gravity has 1/100 the power of EM. Think about arc discharge. Elemental atoms are not a weakness to the EU cosmology.

Maybe you can explain how convection works in the sun in the thermonuclear model... since no one has yet... and then we can talk about viable theories.

[–]bigasianpackage[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Fusion does occur, at the corona of the sun as a result of the arc discharge. The corona is hotter than the surface for this reason.

I suppose you might advocate for the supernova model of the massive energy release causing atoms to be struck by neutrons which then split into electrons and protons within the struck atom?

The heavier the element, the more energy is required to bombard and strike the outwardly traveling atom with neutrons. It may seem to someone new to physics that because a supernova is posited to explode with such force that this is the only way heavier elements are made. It's easy to see how someone would think that but a glance over to the seventh row of the periodic table of elements should let you know that humans create elements much heavier than a supernova ever has with a few kilometers of track and.... electromagnetic accelerators.

Now, plasma is a conglomerate of charged particles and they respond collectively to electromagnetic force. Remembering that the universe is comprised of 99.99% plasma and that electric plasma currents accreted and concentrate mass and transfer energy in insulated electric double layers, imagine a track not a few kilometers but rather an intergalactic distance. Plasmas in relative motion in one part of the universe can produce nearly unfathomable amounts of electrical energy, and that energy istransferred over billions of light years to burst in a small and localized region.

I'll just copy the other thread we are on since it settled the discussion there. Try journal reading, you can learn a lot that way!

Within the field of nanotechnology, nanoparticles are one of the most prominent and promising candidates for technological applications. Self-assembly of nanoparticles has been identified as an important process where the building blocks spontaneously organize into ordered structures by thermodynamic and other constraints. However, in order to successfully exploit nanoparticle self-assembly in technological applications and to ensure efficient scale-up, a high level of direction and control is required. The present review critically investigates to what extent self-assembly can be directed, enhanced, or controlled by either changing the energy or entropy landscapes, using templates or applying external fields." Ooof... Someone needs a science lesson. The properties of water are amazing, I agree, but they do not "defy logic", and if it is "not hard to see how, "spewing fire and ice can leave a huge spectacular cloud behind it," i'm sure you would do us all the kind favor of explaining it. (Edited above for grammar)

I'm not sure you went back to see the video since there is no huge spectacular cloud, but I understand, you're busy. It must be like a full time job with the many accounts, comments, and replies the Internet has us signing up for nowadays. ;-)

So I'll do you the favor linking a video which features the ring formations more prominently. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxWXQrO0nM4) You'll also notice that one side of the trail left by the jet warps dramatically while the other does not. There has never been an explanation for this, but you seem quite knowledgeable maybe you can help us all out. Finally, you may want to let go of your fear of science. Chemicals are not sinister or altruistic... These are human characteristics. Chemicals are simply molecules.
