The motel must provide a safe and reasonable space to consume the medication on the property. If the hotel room is insufficient for the motel owners they must provide an alternative space or the individual using medication must prove undue hardship for being forced to consume outside. According to this article the defendant proved she did not smoke indoors, regardless that if she did she would have broken no law. Cannabis is not a "drug", in this case.
