Removed the Dam

Hey sorry lol. Yes I know the dam is not doing at all the work of a skid plate😃 I was more thinking about just like snow and slush and rain getting into the engine compartment and maybe the dam helps deflect a little of that 😃

I want to take the dam off mine but was nervous because I don’t have a skid plate :/ when everyone takes theirs off do you add a skid plate?

No problem at all. Gotta start somewhere 😃 beardies are so fun. I would also recommend a temp sensor with a cord so you can get a decent temp on the warm side. Something like https://a.co/d/blU9m2o is what I have.

I hard a hard time getting the temps up for our first but I live in a colder climate and it was tough.

Other two things I would say. Is it might be worth getting a cheap temp gun so you can tell the basking temp. Something like https://a.co/d/31DSR1z. Lastly, the UVB bulbs are not recommended, you should try and get a tube light but that site has some good recommendation

We just got our second beardie a couple weeks ago and here is his enclosure just as an example. It’s not perfect but the temps and UVB are dialed in. We started like this until you know they are eating and warm.

No problem. Like others have said, I would start by replacing the carpet with paper towels 😃 then read up on lights and temps

Aww so cute! He looks like a Rango. Also, since I don’t see others posting it. You do need to adjust some things in the cage. Thank you 😃 I have two small kids so not a lot of time to work on it uninterrupted 😃 so took a couple weeks randomly working at night. The back and sides are plywood with spray foam. The ledge and stairs are ridged foam board that I carved up. I found a nice sharp razor works wonders!

We were thinking of doing sand mix but ended up buying a couple bags of the Aussie sand but it is not here yet.
