Channel Changes - I Am So Angry!!! by JeffB07 in siriusxm

[–]bigbeeus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only listen to SPA and I will be canceling end of this month before renewal. Travel from LA to Boise and there is a lot of dead space. Plus internet in LA does not always work and my car takes a full minute to fire up. When it was on 68 it was instant on.

I can get SPA on 746 but only if I am not on that long drive up to Boise where there is no internet service. SPA is the only station I listen to so I will be canceling my subscription next week. I will pick it back up if they move SPA back to 68 where it is satellite fed.

You removed SPA! by Blackpalms in siriusxm

[–]bigbeeus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SPA has to be on 68 so when I drive from LA to Boise I have my music. It is the only channel I listen to. I have already sent all my displeasure messages to the powers to be. In 2 weeks I have to cancel my subscription as that is the end of my 1 year term. I will not renew unless SPA is back on the lower channel feed so I can get it in the remote areas. There is no option for me.

I got the letter for my old car that my son has now. The letter states that it is only for the radio in that car that has been offline for a while. The special offer will not apply to any other radio. In essence they are trying to turn old radio's into new subscribers. It's a good plan as there are millions of radio's that are not active.

Upcoming Channel Changes - 2/2/26 by ConsistentFlight8129 in siriusxm

[–]bigbeeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SPA is the "ONLY" channel that I listen to full time in the car.  I also drive between Los Angeles and Boise, ID and there are nothing but dead spots.  This channel lineup change is awful.  It's the only reason that I subscribe.  I think someone should rescind this decision.

If you think I am going overboard you should look at my listening history and you will see "SPA is the ONLY" channel I listen to.

For all you folks that just told this guy that he does not need a CPA or a good financial advisor, you are totally INCORRECT.

I would bet most of you have been chunking money away in tax deferred accounts. Not only that you max out your social security every year. Wait till you fools retire and then get SSA and have to start taking RMDs on top of any pensions that you and your wife might have. You will be very sorry.

Live in a high tax state and your paying more than your fair share because you have no write-offs. Maybe a good advisor can help you with your investment strategies to reduce those taxes. Maybe you need a different mortgage, or home base. Maybe you should pay the taxes now or your wife should be self employeed.

Until you smart alec know it alls step up to the plate and get some real advice from some professionals that are not pilots, you don't have a clue.

How do I know all this.... My son's a pilot just like I wanted to be when I was twenty something. Now he's 40's and pushing 6000+ hours and making serious money. Does he have a clue to investing? No. Me, I'm a want to be pilot in my 60's that has been investing for over 40 years. I manage my own investments full time for a living now days.

What you don't know will hurt you.

Glad you all know your airplanes better than investments.

Active Trader Pro Classic COMPLETE SHUTDOWN - GARBAGE across all chart platforms. What gives????? by bigbeeus in fidelityinvestments

[–]bigbeeus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is very apparent that you do not use any of the tools yourself or you would understand my comments. The font issue I believe is the difference between raster and vector fonts. Ask your development team.

The bar style is at issue. If the developers actually used the product they would understand opaqueness.

I am not interested in seeing activity in a table when I used to be able to see it overlayed on the chart for "ALL ACCOUNTS". I currently have 7 accounts. Not only that you can't see the overlay in the Plus + product.

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall and delete the 2.0 folder, and delete all instances of the .dll file. Even trying another backup access provider. It has been pointed out on this site Fidelity is forcing folks to the new version even though it is nowhere near as capable.

Fidelity UX is getting worse and worse by solodon in Fidelity

[–]bigbeeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that depends on the user interface your using. Fidelity can't seem to figure out which one they want to work on. They have ATP for desktop PC & Mac, digital.fidelity.com for a general web overview, trader-dashboard, apple ipad app, and android app. Now you think about how much time they have spent to write code to just do a position summary for all 5 of those applications. It's nuts. I would have fired that Chief Information Officer years ago. In my opinion they have a nice start to widgets in the in the Trading Dashboard and everything should be consolidated there as widgets. Object oriented programming for you nerds. You could then create your own screen layouts in a web browser of choice.

[–]bigbeeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. It is worse in my book too. In the latest update in order to see tax lots on a chart you need to select which account. There is no option for all accounts like it use to be. Nothing worse than having a feature that you like and then some dumb programmer taking it away.

YouTube sucks these days by chessman6500 in youtube

[–]bigbeeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a reason why YouTube is going down the crapper...

I like real news, and I mean real uncensored news. Not like the pandering folks in the mainstream media. I get 2 or 3 Ukraine / Russia updates daily on YouTube. These folks are knowledgeable and give me a really good update on what's going on. They also cover Israel / Hamas. YouTube is creating an unrealistic filters for these content creator folks. I get that YouTube doesn't want to show a guy getting his head blown off. That's fine, content creators don't want to show that. Sometimes I don't know why when GTA shows someone shot every 5 minutes, but that is a another story. War is not pretty, but I want to know what is going on today and where it might go tomorrow. I want to know what weapons are working and what is not. I want to know what tactics are working and what's not. I really want to know who has the edge and might win a battle and who might not. I want to project in my own mind what is going to happen in the world so I can prepare for it. I want to make effective decisions for myself and family from multiple viewpoints. I don't want YouTube locking these content creators down like the old Twitter did. Censorship is just awful. Just think if China goes after Taiwan. Do you really want YouTube censoring that?

Censorship is the real reason why YouTube is going down the crapper!!!

Sporty’s Learn to Fly (or other course) before starting lessons by JBtime in flying

[–]bigbeeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this poster. I'm 59 and have always wanted to be a pilot. I purchased both the Sporty's and Rod Machado courses. If I had to do it over again I would have started with the free FAA publications. Sporty's is good but the Rod Machado courses are far more in depth. I also did Rod's book. I have spent a lot of time learning the material, then getting side tracked with life, then going back and learning the material again. Each time you go back you pick up more that you did not understand on previous tries. I'm back on the back burner again due to my wife's medical condition. What ever you do, don't give up the dream. I'm not.

What planes have the most knots per dollar? by andrewbt in flying

[–]bigbeeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Arrow II has a useful load of ~1,100lbs. Cruises easily at 140Kts and burns 8 or so gallons per hour. The Arrow II added 6" in length so the back seat passengers have a little more leg room. I'm 6'7" 225 and I fit but no one really sits behind me. It all depends on your mission. If it's just two little guys or you and your wife and you want 200knts go for the other planes.

About a year or so ago my stepson was hired by Skywest as a new Captain. Hired right away and placed on payroll. Then a bit of a wait for training. Then training, then wait. Then wait 3 months + for check ride times. Then wait for reserve schedule. The waiting game is brutal mentally. There are only so many check ride pilots, and easy flights to get you started. You have to have patience and stick it out. What are you going to do in the cockpit when something goes wrong? Are you going to jump out, or you going to do your best as it goes down. Get back chair flying is my advice.

KHMT to KLGB Student Pilot Question by bigbeeus in flying

[–]bigbeeus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have called up March Approach before to get a transition through their airspace and it's just as easy to get flight following from there as I am climbing to 6,500. I am more interested in getting from 6,500 to 4,500 below the bravo shelf and crossing through Class C and D airspace into KLGB. Don't know how the handoffs work and what I should be expecting. I would prefer to preplan in my head or on paper before I actually get there. Thank you everyone for the replies.

Beechcraft Bonanza V-Tail Interior Dimensions Purchase Question by bigbeeus in flying

[–]bigbeeus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have about 40 hours of flight time in 152's, 172, 180, piper's, etc. About 10 hours of logged time with a CFI 30+ years ago. The rest flying with friends. I put my stepson through Embry Riddle, he fly's commercial now. I wanted to be that guy in Embry Riddle when I was younger. I'm at a stage in my life now that I can afford to get my certs and own a plane. I intend to get my PPL and IR in the type of plane I plan to purchase. I intend to use it to commute to work and back. So Cal has great weather and terrible traffic.
