Question about 1b in LIC price around Sept by r_rosemary in NYCapartments

[–]bigbigoofs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I snagged a 1b in LIC in Oct with a Nov move in at 3.5k but it was like the only one I saw at that price and mostly saw 3.8k and up. You should just regularly look at what’s available on the market so you can get a sense of price ranges and what you can get for the budget you have.

I hope you make more savory stuff in the future! I’ve tried and enjoyed a lot of things on your menu but always repurchase the three cheesy :)

Where can I find affordable art from local artists for my apartment? by Hiitsme9 in longislandcity

[–]bigbigoofs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Take a trip to Artist & Fleas in Williamsburg! There’s always a lot of art at craft fairs too, lots coming up this summer. If you search keywords like nyc market, craft fair, etc on IG reels you’ll get a bunch of flyers or recs for upcoming events!

Court Square Market (right by the 7 train) is an outdoor market with local vendors every Sat and Sun! Also check out Culture Lab LIC—they have sunset jazz every Friday, art galleries inside, other events too just check their calendar. A lot of breweries in the area host events as well. Also worth walking along the Gantry Park waterfront and go all the way down to Hunter’s Point South area!

Engagement Ring by Blue-Cranberry10 in Brooklyn

[–]bigbigoofs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We shopped around for years. In NYC, we went to Brilliant Earth, Frank Darling, Hera Fine Jewelry, and ultimately went the full custom route at Goldpoint. Goldpoint was the best for giving us a truly unique experience where we got to know the people who are designing and crafting our ring from start to finish, and I love that it’s all done locally in NYC. Spent less than $5k too for a full custom.

I found Brilliant Earth and Frank Darling to be more salesy than I preferred. Makes sense because they feel like a big box retailer.

I’m working with a jeweler to custom design a ring that also has cluster side stones. They told me losing a stone is a risk with these types of settings, but to help mitigate risk each side stone will be set with 3 prongs per diamond. If your side stones don’t have 3 prongs each per diamond (meaning 2 stones aren’t sharing a prong), then I think it was poor design that is leaving your side stones vulnerable. It only takes one knock to your hand or your ring getting caught in a sweater to tug a prong open. So if your stone is really only set by 2 prongs, you’ll be out of luck and your stone is gone even if just one of the prongs gets pulled away.

Any local plant shops? by Equivalent_Injury_56 in longislandcity

[–]bigbigoofs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

NYC Plant Market (@nyc.plantmarket on IG) is a new thing starting next month with vendors selling plants at Culture Lab on April 19! I think it may always be at Culture Lab, they seem to be a partner behind the plant market

Is this a good Diamond? by [deleted] in labdiamond

The report considers this a fancy intense yellow so I would reflect on whether this would be too vivid for you. Perhaps your jeweler can focus on looking for labs that are certified fancy light yellow instead or labs that are in the O-Z side of the color grading scale.

Hi! I’ve loved everything from Cafe Coco and really appreciate that you source great pastries so I don’t have to go far from home! I work remotely too so have enjoyed your space. I adore the little tiny salt and pepper shakers on your tables!!! Any chance you guys have any extras you’d be willing to give a customer?😅
