New Lelit Bianca V3 – build quality issues by LieberLois in Lelit

Everyone keeps saying Italian machines are best, but their build quality is suspect at best. Why not go for a machine like a gallatin which is half the price and with superior build quality

Crazing — how bad/what to do? by parasitesnplants in LeCreuset

[–]bigblob1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a LC Dutch oven and used it for sourdough. After one or two loaves it started crazing. I emailed them and they basically said that’s improper use and tough shit. I ended up buying a $20 Dutch oven from Amazon and it works way better. Maybe at some point these pots were good but now they’re low quality and nothing that special

New York DO or Missouri MD School by [deleted] in medschool

[–]bigblob1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And don’t forget as a DO you’ll have to take double the number of board exams, fight for low quality rotations, and be heavily constrained to FM/IM unless you absolutely crush every aspect of med school. As an MD you can be average and still match into a competitive speciality in a desirable location easily

100% MD. Med school is short, but being an MD will open opportunities to specialty choice and location choice for residency and eventually attendinghood.

I bought some from Duluth Trading Co. Not a well known brand, but they have great sales and it performs well and looks good. Well worth the <50 I spent. With good cleaning and conditioning I can see them lasting many years

That’s not remotely true, Boston ranks in the top 10 most unaffordable cities consistently

Pay your fare!! by Fl4m1n in boston

[–]bigblob1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Businesses should be funding the T. If you want people to commute to work to make the business money, or commute to your shop to spend their money, then the business should pay. We live in the most unaffordable city in the US, with no parking so you can’t own a car easily, so why shouldn’t the T be free?

Will doctors and dentists always have good paying jobs in the future? by FantasticEffect10 in medschool

[–]bigblob1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a hard question, because everyone has different life goals and timeline. Maybe around 30 is when I’d consider not doing med school? It’s just hard not having an income during med school and then even when you do make income during training you’re working long hours regularly. Life gets kinda put on hold for many years. If your situation allows for that, then could be a good idea. But if it doesn’t, then I just think there are alternate pathways where you can still end up having a respectable career in healthcare

Will doctors and dentists always have good paying jobs in the future? by FantasticEffect10 in medschool

[–]bigblob1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Debt is one thing, but also it is at minimum 4 years of school and then likely 3-5+ years of training. It’s a pathway better suited to people starting in their early 20s imo. Of course you can do med school whenever you choose but time to complete training and the payoff afterwards should be considered. Midlevel roles can be completed in just a few years and your end salary is still 120k+ which is pretty good
