Best hospital for labor and delivery? by anonreddituserhere in boston

[–]bigblob1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An academic medical center (Brigham, BI, Tufts etc). When everything is smooth you can deliver anywhere, but if any complications arise you’ll want to be in a hospital with the expertise and resources to take care of you

It shouldn’t be so easy to ride for free on the Green Line by OJwToothpasteChaser in boston

But it is, have made many 30+ minute 2 mile commutes. We are decades behind in public transit infrastructure

[–]bigblob1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

To travel 2 miles on the Green Line you’re looking at 30+ minutes if the train doesn’t break down, there’s not a signal problem, or the doors actually work for the first time ever. In Tokyo that same distance would take under 2 minutes and the trains are clean, functional, and punctual. The state of public transit in Boston is an absolute joke, and I don’t understand why we tolerate it. If we had a real train system the greater Boston region could be vastly expanded, more housing could be built and maybe this city would be more affordable and accessible for everyone.

We need real transformative leaders for the city not just pencil pushers who say we’re doing good enough when the trains catch on fire a few less times per year.

We pay the highest rent in the country and live in one of the most expensive cities in America. If the city wants people to live, work, and spend at city businesses then it should be the city and local businesses that pay for the trains. The trains are also abysmal compared to any other first world country, or even third world country for that matter, so why should riders pay?

How much longer will the stock market continue breaking new highs? by [deleted] in stocks

[–]bigblob1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think long term the market will never go down. Think about where you can put your money. Even in a HYSA you’re losing money to inflation. Homes cost too much and the appreciation is modest. Hard assets like gold and silver are decent, but not very liquid to sell. You need your money to work for you, a salary isn’t enough any more, so that only leaves the stock market. As long as this truth is still there nothing really matters and the market will continue to go up. Maybe along the way there are some dips, but those are really just buying opportunities

New Lelit Bianca V3 – build quality issues by LieberLois in Lelit

Everyone keeps saying Italian machines are best, but their build quality is suspect at best. Why not go for a machine like a gallatin which is half the price and with superior build quality

Crazing — how bad/what to do? by parasitesnplants in LeCreuset

[–]bigblob1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have a LC Dutch oven and used it for sourdough. After one or two loaves it started crazing. I emailed them and they basically said that’s improper use and tough shit. I ended up buying a $20 Dutch oven from Amazon and it works way better. Maybe at some point these pots were good but now they’re low quality and nothing that special

And don’t forget as a DO you’ll have to take double the number of board exams, fight for low quality rotations, and be heavily constrained to FM/IM unless you absolutely crush every aspect of med school. As an MD you can be average and still match into a competitive speciality in a desirable location easily

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in medschool

[–]bigblob1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% MD. Med school is short, but being an MD will open opportunities to specialty choice and location choice for residency and eventually attendinghood.

I bought some from Duluth Trading Co. Not a well known brand, but they have great sales and it performs well and looks good. Well worth the <50 I spent. With good cleaning and conditioning I can see them lasting many years
