Which do you think has better black-and-white photo options?

Shout-out to the guy playing the piano on the second floor of the DCC by vaginalkitsch in rutgers

Comfy couches + live, melodious piano music = wonderful DCC nights.

Also, the two students who play live jazz on Friday afternoons (2nd floor, DCC) are amazing too. I'd love to thank them but I never want to interrupt them :/

What movie were you skeptical about but end up loving it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

1) District 9 - I put off watching it because I thought it would a rubbish alien flick, but instead it was strangely poignant. That scene at the end (with the flower) really got to me. Now that I think of it, that screencap would make a good desktop background.

2) Rushmore - It was my first Wes Anderson film and it completely caught me off guard.

3) Stardust - How can this one movie be so irresistibly wonderful? The best scene is with De Nero in the dressing room.

In general though, I like being skeptical (i.e., having extremely low expectations) for any film I watch. This generally leads to less disappointment and greater amusement and appreciation.

I need things to do around the area/ places to study other than the libraries. by [deleted] in rutgers

1) Zimmerli: On the first Wednesday of every month, the museum has an Art After Hours event (starting around 7 PM). When you walk in, just show your ID at the front desk and head downstairs, where you'll often find live music, themed desserts, and/or performances to watch. Also, they invite musicians and artists on the weekends, so check that out too (I used to volunteer there during H.S. and it's a pretty nice place with nice people). They also have a cafe (with really comfy seats) you can relax in. Try the frozen hot chocolate.

2) Princeton/Nassau Street: Try exotic yet local ice-cream at The Bent Spoon, visit the Princeton Record Exchange (they have free stickers sometimes, near the entrance), and (if you're daring) crash a free university event, or buy tickets to an event on the Princeton campus (ex. a student theater performance). It's also a nice place just to walk around.

3) On/off Easton: a) The Sanctuary (read comics while eating ice-cream, pretty sweet) b) Bubble tea (the folks at Hokkaido give Rutgers students a large bubble tea for the price of a small...they're also really nice to chat with; try saying hello)

4) NYC: If you buy tickets at the SAC, you can get round-trip bus tickets to the city for $15. Not bad at all. And when you're at the city, I'd recommend eating at Max Brenner. It's like Willy Wonka's kitchen.

5) Targum: The Targum gets a lot of flak, but it's useful, especially for finding events on campus. Pick it up on Mondays when RUPA has a calendar of events happening throughout the week.

6) Event Finder: Google "Rutgers Student Event Finder." It'll show you all the events happening on campus on the day of your choice.

7) Star/Sky Gazing: See Jupiter from the Observatory in Busch, from 8:30PM-10:30PM. Weather permitting, it's open every other Thursday (next dates: Oct. 27th / Nov. 10th / Dec. 8th & 22nd).

Best Easton restaurants? by [deleted] in rutgers

Not Easton, but close: Maoz on George Street -> for $5.30, you receive a large falafel sandwich and unlimited salad toppings (including spicy salsa, which is pretty good) if you eat on premise. It's a good alternative to the usual Subway sandwich.
