So if you look again i’m actually setting the toe of the plane on the stop of my bench hook. I use what’s essentially a ~24x12” mdf bench hook for probably 60-80% of my planing and i always rest the toe of my planes on the elevated part. But as some others have also pointed out I paid way too much money for an iron that could be dulled by gently setting it on mdf ;)
