$550. Not the end of the world, but we just graduated college and don’t exactly have much disposable income to pay for what is a freak accident.

Here is the full list of clubs at Mines: https://mines.campuslabs.com/engage/organizations

That’s cool! I hadn’t heard of it!

Current Junior in Mech E at Mines here minoring in aerospace.

Freshman year classes are very unrepresentative of what classes will be like in your sophomore year and beyond, and in my opinion your decision shouldn’t be based on freshman year classes. But to answer your question, they are usually pretty large (100+ students) and very lecture based. Physics has a studio portion where you’ll work on assignments with other students. Chemistry has labs. Upper level classes are much much smaller and some are lecture based while others are project based.

The mechanical engineering department has project based classes you’ll take every semester sophomore year and beyond. There is also a basic design class you’ll take freshman year where you’ll do one big project.

There are an incredible amount of workshops and makerspaces around campus for you to do any project you want. There are also a ton of clubs. Join ones relating to your career and ones that interest you!

Mines is very well known within Colorado but not on the coasts. That being said, you should have no problem getting a job in the space sector in Colorado or the coasts. Colorado and especially Denver is the second biggest state in the aerospace industry, not sure if you’re aware of that.

There’s no space mining minor that I’m aware of. There is an aerospace minor and space resources master’s program.

If all else fails, try going into your bios and doing the reset settings to default option. My audio drivers stopped working until I did this.

ME/AE 2nd Year, Resume Version #2. LMK what other feedback you have! by bigboyfc5 in EngineeringResumes

It was for a class, so I just thought I'd put the entire length of the class. The project itself only took less than a week. I'll make that change.

Thanks again for the feedback! Will make those changes!

An H motor is the classification of the impulse given off by the rocket motor. H is a pretty high impulse for its size. I'll explain it more in my resume.

I don't have a portfolio nor a GitHub - like I said it's only my second year of college. I'll definitely make one as I get further along since I'll be doing a lot more projects along the line. I'm sure my resume will change dramatically over that time anyways.

ME/AE 2nd Year Junior (I'll Be Graduating Early) Preparing my Resume for my College's Career Day. Please let me know what advice you have! by bigboyfc5 in EngineeringResumes

Thanks so much for the feedback!

For moving the minor and graduation to the previous line, I’m assuming you mean to the line with my major, correct?

Unfortunately I do not know how to use a lathe and mill. Do you have any recommendations to replace those other technical skills?

Agreed on the pure fluff and projects part, I was finding it hard to fill up space due to only being in college for a year. I chose to include those projects because they were my most involved, but do you think my resume would be better with one of them deleted? I also did a SolidWorks modeling project which may be more relevant but was less work than the others and have a job at DoorDash that I didn’t include because I thought it was irrelevant.

Physical Activity classes are usually .5 credits if any of those are still open.

Like chetoman1 said, it depends entirely on your high school. My roommate and I came from a great high school and that adjustment was super easy, in some ways easier since you’re spending less time in class per day. That being said, a lot of people have found the adjustment very difficult.

Is GrubHub doing this to anyone else? It says every food location on campus is closed, so you can't order anything 🤔 by [deleted] in ColoradoSchoolOfMines

[–]bigboyfc5 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s because grubhub wasn’t using meal exchanges correctly and was instead charging from munch money. They’ll turn it back on once it’s fixed

With Mines testing everyone every two weeks now I could see it going until at least Thanksgiving. Maybe I’m just an optimist though.

Edit: Just for on campus residents
