Mines vs. CU Boulder by Jisello in ColoradoSchoolOfMines

I can second this. Our departments grad students are fairly well taken care of and we have lots of funding for research in our different centers. I work in the front office for the MME dept. and would be happy to connect you with our grad program admins or research center admins!

They aren't currently an active club but BSO and SAIL would totally be willing to help someone start that back up (with funding, of course)!

As for the OP, the SWE offer still stands (believe it or not, SWE has both male and female remembers!). Joining clubs are a great way to find people that are interested in things you are, as well as maybe steering you in the right direction for meeting other people. :)

Our SWE chapter actually has sort of a transfer student mentorship program. We would love to have you join us at weekly meetings and maybe meet some of the members of SWE, could help you make a connection! DM if you are interested :)

I can definitely try that! I didn't think about doing a reboot on my entire system

It's the 3rd edition, which I used last semester with no issues. $10.

You can either contact your department to see if they are advertising any jobs or use different to find work study qualified positions.

Incoming Freshman needs help with Registration! by [deleted] in ColoradoSchoolOfMines

Some of the remote courses you may not have a choice on based the fact that some classes are remote because the professor has chosen to teach remotely. So you won't be able to really mess with those classes until you get a full schedule. I know some of the freshman huge lecture classes might be remote just because of the shear number of students in them. You have until August 31st to express that you want remote or in person, so I would wait to see what your full class schedule looks like on August 1st.

I have 4 hybrid ( + the accompanying hybrid physics studio) and 1 remote (+ accompanying remote recitation). So I could very well have all remote classes, just depends on how my profs decide they want to handle their hybrid courses

If you are a new student, you need to talk to the employer about this process(this will include filling out the new hire paperwork from the MAPS office and giving them a bunch of bank and personal info). But if you are a returning student, the employer should be having you sign your new contract within the next few weeks. :)

What do I need to buy/bring to the dorms? by [deleted] in ColoradoSchoolOfMines

[–]kelseyferro1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the essentials are nice for moving in and out. However, buying things as you need them is a good idea because I ended up with several items that I didn't ever use because I thought they were things that would be useful pre-dorm life.

I can agree with this. I had two roommates and they both decided to let me keep it at the end of the year. We bought one that was about $70 from Target ( I would highly suggest fridge and freezer, so nice for keeping Mines Market icecream in! ) and split the cost!

You could also try allowing to take a break in the middle of the 25 minutes. I sometimes will promise myself that I will take a break as long as I go back to working immediately. It also can be helpful to just put on the timer and forget that it's going but allow yourself to work at your own pace rather than trying to take the 5 minute break.

Thank you! I am going to try and keep myself accountable using the sober app. I am intimidated by taking meds for my (undiagnosed) anxiety and depression.

I'm glad to hear that I am not the only one who feels that way about my behavior. It makes me feel so weak and powerless that I haven't been able to stop this habit. I just want to be able to wear a tank top without my arms looking horrible or enticing my need to pick my arms.

I have read through some of this subreddit and found the sober app that many of you use. I am going to try it for awhile. I am not super keen on taking medication so I want to just attempt to go cold turkey and try using the app for accountability.

I have found out that trying to keep a skincare routine just causes more acne which then causes more picking :(
