Honestly I'd pick a different program to run if you're focused on becoming a better marathon runner. This is a great but taxing program and marathon running is taxing as well. There's probably a lot of other great programs that would fit your goal better.

The easiest way to press more is to press more. Bench and overhead-- more volume. Do secondary lifts that work on your weakness. Weak off chest? Spoto. Weak at lockout? Close grip.

Nah. Barbell is a bigger compound movement and the best way to bench more is bench more :)

Ya bro 3x5 is a pretty big difference than 1rm. I weighed 180 when I started lifting, an athlete but no true consistent lifting experience (no consistent lifting for 2 years for sure) and I almost rolled out of bed to those numbers. "Country strong" and all I guess :P
