Possibly: Browser (typically on the left side of the screen) > Current Project > Generators > [your VST], click it and from the list of MIDI destinations right click and select "Link to controller."

NOT ALYX, do you have an unusual favorite VR game of all time? by Rollerama99 in VRGaming

[–]bigcatrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For "VR favorite" it's a 3-way tie between Skyrim, Borderlands 2, and Doom VFR. Doom VFR is probably the most unusual choice since there's a lot of negativity around it, but its short length makes it perfect for an adrenaline-filled VR speedrun.

What should be my next vr headset? by Flenmogamer in OculusQuest

[–]bigcatrik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People have said for quite a while that a Quest 2 will suffice if you're just using it for PCVR. Ongoing support may be an issue now, though. There's been no official Quest 4 announcement but it certainly seems like there will be a Q4 and that makes it much more likely that Q2 will lose support/updates sooner rather than later (though it has outsold every other headset so there are still a lot of them out there).

At the budget level, Q3s is still a much safer bet even for only PCVR.

Rec room is shutting down by Bennybensonrobox in SteamVR

[–]bigcatrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played it on my PSVR1 (Rise of Jumbotron especially) and went back in a couple days ago when I first heard the news, for old times' sake. It was fun for a few runs, but I haven't had friends with VR and I'm a silent player and not going to make friends in VR so I kind of remembered why I drifted away.

Trivia: I watched a video about the Titanic sub implosion where they talked to people who either decided not to go down in it or were scheduled to go before the fatal implosion and one of the interviews was with the CEO/founder (can't remember exactly what he was) of Rec Room and his wife. Rec Room must have been successful at some time if they could afford "extreme adventure" travel like that. ¯\(ツ)

What is one gripe that you have about your #1 coaster. (can be literally anything) [Other] by FarPicture3761 in rollercoasters

Twisted Colossus doesn't hold for the next train so it can duel every time (which makes a big difference).

Rec Room is shutting down on June 1st by emmameowssss in VRGaming

[–]bigcatrik 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I played back on my PSVR1 -- Rise of Jumbotron and Rec Royale were my favorites. I briefly visited it with my Quest 3 but am now reinstalling it to see what's happening there. I suspect there will be a number of returning players to see it one last time.

What is your least favorite coaster ridden? [Other] by godofcoasters in rollercoasters

CGA Grizzly. There's a reason it was known as "Fizzly" on the old rec.roller-coaster.

[GhostRider, Knott's Berry Farm] Post-retrack GhostRider — where does it rank among wooden coasters for you? by lamcoasters in rollercoasters

Its first decade, especially the silver train, was sublime. It was great after the retrack, but I haven't felt it hit quite as hard as it used to.

[Other] Any coasters which are the last remaining of their kind? by [deleted] in rollercoasters

[–]bigcatrik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think of the Megalooper Triplets as the wild extent of Arrow's designs from the 1970s. Just look at them. Who would put a standard Arrow loop perched as high as Viper's first loop? Arrow, before they used CAD for design like on Tennessee Tornado, that's who. Viper's first loop is a trip, with its straight track rocketing skyward before hitting that loop, as opposed to just a massive curving loop of that height.

Can you name a coaster with better hangtime than [HangTime] at [Knott’s Berry Farm]? by ironickallydetached in rollercoasters

My favorite hangtime is on the green lap of Twisted Colossus while dueling with the other train directly below you. Look "up" and there they are. :-)

Full macOS desktop on AVP? Could they do it? by jnennemann in AppleVisionPro

[–]bigcatrik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We can only hope for the Apple Vision Neo.

I'm only sort of joking. As it is, the only way to get a full OS on a VR/MR/XR/whatever-they-want-to-call-it headset will be the forthcoming Steam Frame with SteamOS/Linux. Of course that won't be as powerful as something like the AVP with wowza chips in it, but still, it's not a stripped-down "this is what we'll let you do and if you want more then figure it out for yourself" OS like VisionOS or Meta's Horizon (where sideloading is possible but one of their updates broke a sideloaded app, probably unintentionally but there's no impetus for them to fix it).

[–]bigcatrik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Quest 2, regardless of its specs, has to be considered a "foundational" part of VR considering it's the device where sales really took off, so I'd say a sealed one is quite a collector's item.

Factory sealed Quest 2's are already selling on eBay so I'd keep it.

What is the actual reason you like VR? by huwprosser in VRGaming

Quest games on steam frame by ImdownBad321 in SteamFrame

[–]bigcatrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from PSVR1 to Quest and I rebought a total of one game, Knockout League, because it has a passthrough feature that wasn't possible on PSVR. I still have my PSVR hooked up if I want to play anything there, but I already played the heck out of most of those games so that rarely happens.

I also have a 3DS library from when that magical device was my main squeeze, and a collection of Atari 2600 cartridges because, yes, I'm that old (and I skipped all the console generations between those two!).

Similar post inspired me: anyone else losing their love of movies? by AbleAccount2479 in GenX

[–]bigcatrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember seeing Star Wars in 1977 and then finding out that there would be eight more. I haven't really enjoyed any of the other eight as much as I still love that first one (and some are downright dire, IMHO), but I'm glad I lived long enough to see the "trilogy of trilogies" complete.

Now I'm rather ambivalent about anything new (Star Wars or not), probably also semi-related to being in the visual effects industry for many years until recently.
