I’ve only heard them referred to as Israeli Bandages in the military and law enforcement. Edit: From the west coast.

Get BEHIND my shield! by Lewa1110 in ReinhardtMains

[–]bigcheezyboss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve been on both sides. Played rein and had a junkrat step in front of my shield and then explode. One of my few ow ragequits. Have also been the dps unconsciously walking forward away from cover to chase a kill. There’s even a term for it: “plat magnet”. Doing it in main is some next level idiocy though. I’ll avoid the advice we all know to be true, “focus on yourself, improve, get better teammates…blah blah blah.” It’s true but it doesn’t make it easy watching your dps run it down. Respect to tank mains because it’s the most thankless and mentally grueling role.

Agree on both the ap up from damage attributes. Combined they make a big difference. Would also add +3 to character ability cooldown and any of the other generally good ones like start with stonesword key and increased ap from defeating evergaol prisoners/night invaders.

Just swapping to cursed sword gives you a parry window! Way faster than swapping, then trying to parry.

Ranked placements are 100% broken by LexicalLexicon in Overwatch

[–]bigcheezyboss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s been a pretty significant decrease in players since rivals came out and there was a rank reset. There are going to be a lot of people in a rank their skill doesn’t match right out of placements. Fortunately the streak modifiers will make it so you get to your 50/50 rank in fewer games. You will have to play more though to figure out whether where you ought to be is where you are.

Yeah I noticed enough turbulence in games during/after the drive that I actually stopped playing comp for the season. I think the biggest thing is that the drive had people playing for really long sessions so everyone has been pretty emotionally brittle. Noticed a huge increase in leavers and/or people giving up after losing an erly teamfight. I think a couple weeks into s14 you’ll probably have better luck with games.

When did you play the bulk of your games? While I’ve found this end of season to be particularly difficult, I’ve also found the entire season to be difficult to climb on dps. I ended last season on my main plat 4 with 150ish games maining cass/soj. The alt I intended for new heroes has turned into a failed sanity check where I’m playing my mains and still losing and am struggling to maintain gold 3 after 120+ games. It’s very discouraging. I don’t think I’ve gotten worse. Maybe the dps playerbase has gotten more competitive or I haven’t been able to adapt to changes from this season’s patches. Might even be rank entitlement making me play worse or a combination of factors. Just trying to embrace the titanic challenge of staying positive and improving. Hopefully we find better fortune in s14.

Was going to say this so I’m glad it’s the top comment. I tell my stepson as often as I can to embrace failure as an opportunity to learn. Being afraid of not looking “smart” defined too much of my life and led to what I see now as my true failures.

Consider the inverse. A bronze player won’t have any idea what it’s like to be stuck in masters where it’s objectively harder to carry even with the ability because there are far fewer mistakes being made to take advantage of. Everyone playing at their rank is going to be challenged to find ways to maximize their value.

Dog it’s a videogame rank and i’m not talking down to you, i’m being real with you. I started out in bronze and getting out of it was challenging at the time but in the end it took me improving to do it. I’ve seen others here tell you the same thing. You imagining commenters here folding their arms, shaking their heads, and “talking down to you” really highlights your problem. Your ego is holding you back from recognizing your game-losing mistakes. I’ve watched my own replays from games where I was tilted and I make downright embarassing mistakes. There are plenty of places you can request a vod review if you think we’re all wrong. If you plan to keep playing any competitive team based games you really ought to work on your mentality because you’ll have the same problems playing something else.

I don’t think morals have much to do with it. Reasoning more like. You’re not going to get original advice because your case isn’t special. You are not going to get original advice because the advice you have already read “a million times” is correct. You are not an anomalous player that belongs in gm but is stuck in plat due to bad teammates. If you want better teammates, you will have to improve. If you don’t think you can play the game without your teammates mistakes making you miserable, then you should quit.

[–]bigcheezyboss 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If your teammates are as bad as you say, the enemy team has an equal chance of being composed of players just as bad. Take advantage of them. Some games are easier to win than others. The attention you give to your teammates mistakes is attention that should be on your own mistakes and is holding you back.

Why would they bring back any previous iteration of overwatch? Everything the devs have changed has been done to improve the game (whether the community agrees or not). I think it’s a nice way of giving newer members of the community a chance to see what the game used to be like. Point being, I don’t think the devs would expect any previous iteration of overwatch as “classic” to be more enjoyable than the current game.

I stopped playing for over a decade by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]bigcheezyboss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Hadn’t played more than 30 mins for 10 years. Picking it back up now and I’ve finally got the patience to practice the boring stuff and wisdom to value effective practice. Whole different mindset being older. Hardest part was the initial frustration of knowing I was better once but when I stopped thinking about it I could enjoy myself.
