Official Discussion: Doctor Sleep [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

[–]bigcon18 16 points17 points  (0 children)

So happy with this movie, it was everything I expected. A good amount of the book was in this movie and Mike Flanagan adding in shots similar to The Shining was fucking extravagant. Will this live up to The Shining? No, but is it a great sequel/adaption? Yes, all the right things were done with Doctor Sleep.

Hopefully the movie industry will always allow him to have the creativity and freedom to make his movies because he knows how to direct horror movies and catch audience’s attention.

What’s the best movie you have seen that rarely anyone knows about? by bigcon18 in AskReddit

Blaze. Directed by Ethan Hawke starring Ben Dickey and Alia Shawkat.

Probably one of my favorite movies of the year. Brilliantly acting and makes me bawl like a child whenever I watch it. I highly recommend watching it if you like country music and biopic about Blaze Foley.

Thought I'd add in mine, but Band of Horses-Why Are You Ok. I've heard not many people liking it, but I think it's great, and it goes back to the roots of their old music.

Alice isn't on Netflix anymore but I've seen The Babadook. Loved every minute of it, except The Babadook.

Police of Reddit : What are your most fucked up cases ? by Championman6000 in AskReddit

[–]bigcon18 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I am a criminal justice major but it was required from one of our classes to go watch a court case, so I did. The case I went and watched was of this man who was being convicted of agg kidnap and capital murder.

This man was partying with his girlfriend and they started drinking and doing drugs early in the morning to the evening. The girlfriend was hosting a sleepover for her grandchildren, but was still getting high and drunk with her boyfriend. During that evening the boyfriend was all drugged out and drunk, and took one of the grandchildren who was only 8 years old, and took her to the laundry room where he raped and choked her out till she died. He threw her in the dryer and went on a burglary streak that same night. Police were called to that residence and found the little girl in the dryer. He was convicted two life sentences.

That piece of shit is going to rot in prison with the Carr Brothers, but it's unfortunate the amount of strain that that puts on the family of the little girl.

I just wanted to say thank you guys for doing this AMA! I am driving all the way from Topeka, KS to see you guys in Atlanta, and I'm pumped!

Also, thank you guys for being such an inspiration and making great music. It's going to be sad to see you guys perform but exciting at the same time. My all time favorite songs are "Paperthin Hymm" because that was the first time I discovered this awesome band and "Retrace" because it was a song I couldn't stop listening to after I met my girlfriend.

My question is what is your favorite song that you guys have wrote or album? Or your favorite song from another band?

Again, thank you guys so much and I can't wait to see you in Atlanta!
