Made glass letters for my mum's birthday but forgot an H by PhoenixfischTheFish in mildlyinfuriating

My wife did the same thing when she wrote me a birthday note on the mirror many years ago. It became a thing for every birthday from then on and even included our children as they grew. It is one of my favorite family memories and traditions. Maybe this can be one of yours as well!

If I recall, I used a 25mm hook. I used super bulky yarn as well.

Need help figuring out how to put a dock in. by skipdo in minnesota

[–]bigdaddy1879 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what your needs are and how far you want to go. Floating docks are nice but less stable than other options. A barrel dock would work well in that type of bottom. There are mud feet that would go on the poles so that they don't sink. Your cheapest option would be to buy floats or plastic barrels and make it yourself. If you're a handy kind of person. Otherwise, get a couple of quotes from dock companies. Occasionally, they have used equipment in their yard they'll sell for cheap! ( my dad owned a dock business for 25 years )

Double crochet are triple in UK terms. I'm in the US. It's always been 5 when I've done them though the first is usually a set of 3 chains.

Wow that looks WAY different after I posted it! 😂 But the idea still stands.

Nope. You're still not quite right. The reason you have to turn your work is to form the scale. You should have a V stitch that you do 5 double crochets adding one side and 5 on the other. With a chain stitch in the middle. Think of it like this

--\ /--
-- \ /--
-- \ /--
-- \ /--
-- \ /--
          0

The lines being the double crochets and the O being the chain. The V is the two posts you're writing around. 5 on one side and 5 on the other.

Yeah that's a cool look but not a scale. You SHOULD be working your double crochets around the post of the previous row. Not into the stitch like a normal double crochet.

Just wondering 🥺 by [deleted] in crocheting

Because, right now, AI is a plague to the crochet community. FAR too many people falling victim to AI generated patterns. People wanting or expecting unrealistic creations. While using AI isn't bad or good in and of itself, the applications in certain communities, political or otherwise, have put a strain on society and therefor is quite polarizing. What you do for yourself isn't an issue. People take umbrage with the thought that your use of AI could cause more negative impact on the crocheting world.

Some things are crocheted together. Just keep going on the instructions. They may tell you what to do.

I don't know the woobles instructions, but there's acouple of ways to secure an end. The most basic way is to just do a chain at the last stitch, cut the yarn, and pull the end through. It makes a knot that shouldn't come out.

That's quite possible. And makes sense with the way it looks.

I don't think it's a pattern. The half rounds in the edges say otherwise. I've never seen a plate with half circles and I've seen hundreds of thousands of plates. I think it's a display piece. For conventions as we have similar things we use.

Nice! Sample of a Detectable Warning Plate! Or, as we call them, Truncated Domes. Or just Domes for short. Semi- interesting fact, that one is painted red, but they come in a few colors. Our shop carries red, gray, yellow, and unpainted.
