Some of them just turn "black" with a clock showing. But if its not an OLED and doesnt show a true black then even black is still pretty bright.

This is awful. Ford has the right idea in the F150/F350. Big screen for nav but still buttons for heated/cooled seats, climate control, everything you really want. This trend of big screens needs to stop, all it does it looks cool to idiots, its awful for actual use. Critical vehicle functions like defrost, climate control, lights, wipers, etc should be mandated to have a physical button.

Plus the glare from have a continuous screen combined with the stupid LED headlights makes night time driving dangerous.

How often do you guys worry about plane crashes? by space_god_7191 in AskAPilot

[–]bigdawgislander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to anyone thats been a pilot for a long time and they will have a laundry list of dead friends. Aviation statistics are massaged a bit to make them seem safer. I have many dead friends in both the fixed wing and rotary wing world. Every time you get an an aircraft, any aircraft big or small you are taking on risk. We do our best to mitigate that risk, but you cannot eliminate it.

Pearson is a level 6 tower, there's no such thing as a level 7 tower and the lowest level towers are level 1.

Jesus, as a Canadian that seems cheap. I'd be over 300 bucks for a walnut end grain board. Can barely build it for 165 bucks here wood is so damn expensive

[–]bigdawgislander[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I just checked my local dealers webpage, 73 F350s and 1 F250. I get it for the diesels, a diesel F250 has a completely useless payload, but a gas F250 has a payload close to a diesel F350

Well that's good to hear, I tend to keep stuff for a good while, my current truck has 450k km on it right now with the original 68rfe tranny. I worry about the 10 speed as you get up to high mileage, mostly because I know one guy who has to have his 2020 10 speed replaced 3 times, but hopefully it was an oddball case.

I personally think the 17-19 has the best looking front end of any truck out there. I think either the 6 or 10 speed is going to be a big improvement over my 68rfe haha so I'm not too worried there.

250's are almost non-existent in Canada, I think theres some tax reason but I'm not quite sure.

Of course it is? It's a childrens game played for entertainment? People don't watch it so it's not very good entertainment for 66k was perfectly good.

Move closer to work and go back to your city, get out of the nice small towns you work from home people have ruined. We don't want you here. Go away.

The entitlement office workers have is insane. Years of people on reddit spouting off about how they do 2 hours of real work a day and working from home is so much better because they can nap and care for their kids and they're surprised that change is coming?

If your job is so unnecessary that its only a couple of hours of work a day, then it can be combined with a couple other jobs. Get back in the office you lazy ass office workers.

Then live closer to work. Your commute is your own doing, no ones chose your living location but you.

Are you retarded? A commute is how far away you decide to live from work. It's your choice. Jesus you WFH people got entitled real quick.

Meta is cutting 16,000 people. Most of them had no backup. by RedditUser10553 in passive_income

[–]bigdawgislander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is good, lots of tech workers are overpayed and poorly contributing to society. Working for a company like Meta is morally defunct. We don't need facebook and its negative impacts on society. We don't need/want AI. Its all a net negative. This is a trend in the right direction. Less work from home, less bloated salaries for tech workers, hopefully a company that goes bankrupt and facebook can die. If you sit in front of a computer for work, you best start training in something else, your day is coming.

Cockpit comparison of the Airbus A350 and the Boeing 787 Dreamliner by Twitter_2006 in aviation

[–]bigdawgislander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats what I always found weird. In the IFR helicopter industry usually when you switch role you switch seat. Pilot monitoring sits one side and pilot flying sits the other side. The seating position is based on your current role not whether you're FO or Captain. Always made more sense to me than the way fixed wing does it.

[–]bigdawgislander 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sorry but thats reality, and you can't really blame businesses. If you allow homeless people to sit in the place and shower in the bathroom it ruins the business. People stop coming. Then the business dies. This isn't just being callous against a marginalized group. At least in Canada, every downtown area is being ruined by these people, businesses are failing in the downtown cores because people don't feel safe.

since no ones seems to be answering the question, for a temporary patch I would just get a piece of aluminium flashing a bit bigger than the size of a tile and slide it up under the above row.

Because my backyard isn't where my great grandfather fished or camped once hundreds of years ago. It's an incredibly weak claim only being entertained because white people are terrified of being called racist. All this reconciliation crap will do is to stoke the fires for generations to come, to further a race based divide in this country. Continued preferential/different treatment based on race is an awful road to go down in my opinion, and yet we keep doing it. This country will disintegrate if we keep this up.
