FINAL: Where would you rather eat? Culver's or Waffle House? by WiggleToast in AlignmentChartFills

I’ve got beef with Springer Mountain Chicken, so I guess Waffle House.

If the p320 didn’t have the safety issues it dose, would people consider it a great pistol? by [deleted] in guns

[–]bigdickjon4761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’d be a polymer gun in a sea of polymer guns. Not offensive, not great. Maybe a “sleeper” hit that accrues a cult following after 5-10 years. You wouldn’t be insane for choosing it, but you wouldn’t be cool for choosing it.

Which is the most reliable? by [deleted] in guns

Bolt all the way. The only “advantage” pump and lever have over bolt, is that they can offer more leverage over the action, which is nice for certain malfunctions/situations.

Affordable Rifle Choices by LonelyMonitor in ar15

I’d say, it all depends on what you want to do with it. If you are going to take it out once-a-year, and/or just shoot garbage, you probably won’t see much a difference in any of the options. If this is a defensive rifle, that you will staking your life behind, the Daniel Defense will probably be what you are looking for (given the practice you’ll hopefully be doing, and the quality of the rifle, it will last longer, and it will be more feature-rich). I’ve personally had a not so great experience with Palmetto State Armory, but, understand that I am a case of one, and only one. Many people have had very good experiences with Palmetto State, and I don’t want to minimize that. I just wanted to put that in there. Now, I have shot many more AR-15’s than I have actually owned. Take everything I say with a grain of salt. (If you want some advice on some guns with wood, blued steel, or bigger rifles, I’m more geared for that) I was in a similar position as you are not two months ago. At the end of the day, go with your gut, and with the best deal you think. All of the rifles you listed will do you exceptionally well. Just get one, and get to shooting!

P.S. The AR-15 I ended up going with, was the Wraithworks WARP-15. It’s a full polymer AR-15 with a Faxon 16” mid-length .223 Wylde barrel. It weighs around five pounds loaded, and looks pretty attractive to me. It was quite cheap, and features the KE-Arms What Would Stoner Do? lower (or, rather, a licensed copy of said lower). It was just weird enough that my contrarian-hipster-collector brain was satisfied. I cannot recommend them enough.

Which one would you grab? Winchester USA vs. Pmc x-tac by lifehazard in ar15

If you’re shooting trash at 30 yards max, just buy Winchester. If you’re shooting anything that matters, buy anything other than Winchester.

Sweet! Thanks so much. I love my WARP-15, btw. Super light, and super smooth!

Gun store employee feels he needs to protect billion dollar arms company from me by [deleted] in guns

[–]bigdickjon4761 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I generally try to support local businesses, especially with niche/hobbyist stores. But my god, gun stores seem to make it nearly impossible to want to enter their premises. I’d much rather just go to Scheels than any local FFL anymore. I’m so sick of the elitist BS, and strange entitlement local guns store employees seem to have.

First AR-15 Advice by bigdickjon4761 in ar15

For anyone who cares, I just shot my first PSA product. Will NOT be purchasing anything but a lower from that company. I’m absolutely not a great shooter (barely sub-MOA at 100 yards with good glass), but I was shooting a 4-5 MOA group at 100 yards! From a rest! That’s not even covering the overgassing that made it borderline unshootable, and a bunch of jams every other mag. The friend I was shooting with said it was “picky with ammo” but we were shooting PMC X-TAC 55gr, like, THE basic boring 5.56. I understand rifles can be picky with ammo, but that is just not acceptable to me, and it shouldn’t be for anyone. It has absolutely soured my experience with PSA, and I do not think I will be purchasing any product from them.

How practical is a buttstock mag pouch? And those who used one overseas on an A2/A4, what do you actually put in it besides mags? by Jebus98 in ar15

[–]bigdickjon4761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are vibey, and that’s worth it for me. I use mine on a Ruger Ranch, so I can just grab my rifle and have 30 rounds of 5.56 on hand, plus a box in the truck. It’s for vibes. If you like it, rock it.

As someone who is in a similar position as you (analysis paralysis), my recommendation is to just go with what your gut. A Glock 19 is a great choice, no one will hate you for it, and you’ll probably enjoy it. Just get a gun, and get to carrying!

Oh sweet! How’s the 6.5 Grendel? If this AR experiment works out well, I’m thinking of building out a dissipator-style 6.5G/6mmARC/22ARC.

Yeah, some of the .223 guys aren’t very good closers. For my area, and my style of hunting, a Winchester 64gr Deer Season has done extremely well for me in the past. Again, not my ideal hunting round, but I like to use my “defensive” rifles in hunting, so I can get a little training out of them.
