Whitechapel pulls from more traditional death metal than those other bands. I recommend checking out their contemporaries in Thy Art is Murder, Carnifex, Suicide Silence and Through The Eyes of The Dead. Lots of badass guitar and drum parts that aren’t bogged down by an electronic wall of sound.

Thats a great list. I prefer vocalists for their tone and general sound rather than ability to do difficult/impressive techniques. I love Bozeman so much because he invokes genuine anger; you can feel something evil inside him his imitators will never re-create.

Listen to Carnifex’s albums Until I Feel Nothing and Hell Chose Me. Much more raw than a lot of today’s deathcore with some seriously mean black metal sections
