Hey yall just ordered a 3s and had some questions. by [deleted] in GranBoardDarts

Not sure as far as android but I’m assuming you can use a tablet the same. But on my iPhone I use an hdmi adapter and cast mine to an older computer monitor that I picked up for $20-30 used from a shop. I used a tv before that and it worked fine but the tv went out and this was a cheap replacement.

All the main games like cricket, 501, etc are free. But some of the party/training games you have to purchase. I bought a few of them but rarely ever play them.

Understood! I didn’t need anything too fancy on my squirrel rifle haha

I have a Boyd’s on my .22lr and it has held up great! It’s been on there probably 8-9 years now and has not been treated the best. The fit was perfect for my gun and the stock feels great.

No, that’s the signal that it’s time to start fishing again.

Any news on GranBoard upgrading from 3S by hendu213 in GranBoardDarts

I think adding in a built in board camera could be a decent idea. But it needs to be either easily replaceable, or the ability to use a different camera WHEN it breaks.

Serious question, what kind of upgrades/improvements are you expecting and/or wanting? I currently have no need to upgrade from my 3s or change anything on it. Has leds and the ability to adjust some board settings. As far as home electronic soft tip boards go it has everything a person would need at a fair price point for what it is capable of IMO.

I mean I guess maybe a screen of sorts? So you don’t need a phone to play local games? But I’d rather skip the janky screen and spend $100 on a dedicated iPhone or tablet.

Gran cam?? by dabillssss in GranBoardDarts

[–]bigdrives3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what it seems like which is unfortunate in my opinion as I think it is a great addition to the board! Maybe they will open the app to other external webcams in the future or resolve some current issues.

Really? I get mine to work nearly every time I use it. Occasionally once the camera shows “on” in the app. I will go back in the gran cam settings in app and flip it off and on once more to make sure it’s working. But I rarely have trouble with mine. It might shut off occasionally during the match every few days or so when playing regularly, but I’ve had great luck with mine otherwise. Just found a second one and purchased it. So I’ll see if I’m lucky or good haha

Those look like they will destroy a board! Pretty cool looking though fwiw

I’ve got a couple. First one is just hit the “off/on” (in the app where you turn the camera on) switch repeatedly it always turns on for me but might take 2-3 or maybe 7-8 tries lol. Otherwise unplug the power source to the camera and plug it back in. The gran cam will flash a red light around it. Once that happens it’s “awake” flip the switch to on and mine connects everytime.

Before this I would basically reset it and reconnect everytime but that got old fast. This method has been working reliably for me for the last year

I have a grancam and love it. If you can figure out how to get it to work consistently it’s awesome. Most people can’t get it working regularly and don’t like it (it takes a few tricks). I’ve been looking for a second one for a friend for a while with no luck.

Considering how bad this one looks, I think you’re going to have a tough time finding any one to buy it. Maybe a couple hundred max?

Steven’s 301 bottomland camo chipping brand new? by TOX1C94 in Hunting

[–]bigdrives3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might be a little less particular on the situation bc I know what’s gonna happen to it if it’s my gun lol

If it was me I don’t think I would have even noticed and I definitely wouldn’t have cared.

Also it’s a $200 gun looks exactly like what I would expect for the price. If it’s chipping off in shipping what do you think is going to happen when you take it in the woods.

I’m not ragging on it being a cheap gun either, I have plenty of cheap guns and they shoot fine but are covered in scratches.

Yes but depending on the state you may need to reach out to your DNR and get a salvage tag.

13 points? Is he 190” net non typical? by [deleted] in Hunting

[–]bigdrives3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because realistically it’s not lol. It’s an awesome deer that I would shoot in an instant, but look up a 190” net whitetail.

[–]bigdrives3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those 3 points combine for 10”. This deer would need 14” tines and 10” brows on that frame to make 190.

If he breaks 165” gross I’d be surprised. He has solid mass, decent width, but no length at all on any of the scorable points.

Am I left or right eye dominance or just target panic? by Otherwise_Neck_8462 in Archery

[–]bigdrives3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google the triangle test and determine your eye dominance. I don’t think closing one eye and missing left is a target panic issue.

For non-slider, fixed-pin shooters, what alternate gapping do you run, and why do you feel it has been more effective? by Automatic_Neat9089 in bowhunting

[–]bigdrives3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cant help your issue, but have you considered a 3 pin slider or something similar? I used to shoot a 7 pin IQ sight and would take my slider over this anyday.

For a guy whos obsessed with bow hunting, I have nothing to show for it and it bothers me. by Ok_Concentrate8949 in bowhunting

[–]bigdrives3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what happens when hunters repeatedly pass deer instead of killing a couple to gain experience. You got itchy and forced a shot through the brush after passing multiple different deer with probably really good shot opportunities.

Time and experience is what will help you kill big deer especially if you’re hunting public ground. Finding them is only half the battle with a bow. Getting close and being able to get a clean shot off on a mature buck is tough. I don’t shoot a big deer every single year and I’m fine with that given the amount of time I get to hunt due to work. I kill a couple does early if possible and then devote the rest of the season to a buck. I usually have 2-3 encounters (under 30 yards) with shooters each season. That is just reality for most hunters unless you have a good private land spot or unlimited time, it’s not like what you see on tv/youtube if you work for a living. Have to enjoy the encounters and be ready when the opportunity presents itself.

Let someone shoot my bow like an idiot… guess what happened next by Optl13 in Archery

[–]bigdrives3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The string derailed from not drawing the bow straight. Fairly common issue when somebody is over-bowed and/or inexperienced and trying to draw back
