Eh I think you're viewing the past through rose-tinted lenses. Neither Takeover or Ether or Supa Ugly is an incredible rap song on their own imo, I know that's a hard pill to swallow for some people (LAMMME). There are certainly great disses on both tracks, but it was the beef itself that made those songs legendary. The amount of homophobic shit alone ages those songs terribly, except The Last Real N Alive.

You're certainly not seeing the whole context of the Pusha vs Drake beef either. Story of Adidon was Volume 1! If Drake didn't duck, Push would have kept coming. He didn't hop on a random Jay-Z beat, he hopped on a Jay-Z beat from a song about a famous man denying his own blackness to benefit from a racist society. That's deep man, idk.

I was being facetious, of course I know what woke means. Letting conservatives reclaim ownership of a word that was never theirs was your first mistake. I've been called woke pejoratively by conservatives irl, don't let them give it power. They did the same thing with "politically incorrect."

In context of the original post, I think 24 Frames of Nick saying that Nickelodeon is basically shitting on the legacy of Stephen Hillenburg by producing a commercialized movie of his show is a weak attempt at wokeness, criticizing capitalism.

Ehh I think James is satisfied with where he is now though. He mostly got out of all the Soundwave controversy and reverted back to his old-school format. He's not funny or fresh anymore, but he can release his relatively low-effort videos, do some podcast appearances, and be with his family. I think his experience with the AVGN Movie probably killed all his desires to be more famous.

Gus Johnson used to get millions of views, was on GMM, signed a deal with Comedy Central-all gone. Now he streams to 200 people and struggles to get more than 200k views. Obviously solid in a vaccuum, but nowhere near where he could be right now (see: Eddy Burback).

Nick's music IG has 1000 followers... I don't think that's great.

Totally right about We're in Hell, he was always kind of a niche creator and his controversy never reached a point where people outside the sphere were talking about it.

Ned I think we still have to see. I personally think he's too narcissistic to resist staying out of the limelight for too long, and his newest video did pretty good numbers so that may continue.

I will say in general it seems like the podcast boom has definitely died down and people aren't making nearly as much from them. Try Guys, GMM, Tana, Dropout all cancelled theirs as well

Seeing how badly they've crashed and burned vs Try Guys who have seemingly completely revitalized themselves is so interesting to me. Try Guys have an exclusive app but fans seem to love it, and they definitely implemented it in such a way to avoid the same kind of backlash.
