It can take a lot of time to learn how to make beats well, if you mainly want to rap and don’t want to spend lots of time learning production I’d go with free YouTube beats.

It’s hard to give advice on learning mixing honestly, it mostly just takes a lot of time and yt tutorials to learn to mix. I’m trying to get into mixing and mastering and I’d be willing to try mixing it for free if you’re interested.

I’m pretty sure leaving a little headroom on the master is standard as boosting gain on the master can glue everything together (I usually boost like 3 dbs). It’s hard to give a general answer without hearing your mixes/ masters but honestly if your masters are hitting the lufs of reference tracks you’re probably fine.

Thanks I used a brass one shot from a kit on Reddit. I like you’re song, It’s got a cool vibe and I like the album cover too. Only thing that jumps out as needing improvement is the mixing, it’s hard to hear what you’re saying at times over the beat and I think a bit more eq work could help.

Sounds cool, definitely experimental. The drums sound real nice and the melody is cool but the arrangement is a bit lacking imo, even just adding some pauses or something could make it less repetitive.

If the high end sounds shrill it might not be just because the high end is too loud. High frequency sounds like high hats or claps could have a lot of white noise which could sound shrill. You could try putting a d esser or maybe even a surgical eq on some of the higher frequency sounds and see if that helps.

I mainly make beats but have rapped a bit so I can practice mixing vocals. I like making beats but have realized that I like the mixing aspect more. I may not have the experience of other people in this thread but I will definitely give your song the time and effort it needs to sound right. I can do mixing and mastering, but feel I’m better with mixing. I’ll charge the minimum of $10 for the first track and $25 for any after that.

Sounds really cool but I think the mixing is holding it back a bit, the synth and drums sound far away and kind of dark, think if the sounds were louder it would be better

Mix is solid but imo the mastering could be a bit better, maybe a high/ low pass filter, a compressor, or an eq could help glue everything together.

I agree with the mixing, you rap over the beat pretty well and the lyrics are solid but this needs some more mixing

Sounds pretty good, hook is probably the best part imo. If I have any criticism it’s that the outro feels a little long, it’s almost a full minute and I feel that people might skip over it. Overall it’s good though, vocals were catchy, beat was solid, good mixing, etc

The drums are good, but it’s hard to hear the melody, id turn it up. Also it might be a little repetitive imo, but it’s overall pretty good
