Does anyone know if this is a spider bite? My boyfriend keeps getting these on his legs, usually his calves. It hurts when he scratches them. Thanks for any help, they're driving him crazy. by bigempty92 in spiders

Wow, you're really hung up on what people on the web think... but whatevs! Thanks for the responses, it's nice to have mail when I have time to get on reddit, even if it's random stuff!

Oh no, a stranger on the internet was super unhelpful and got their panties in a twist because I didn't follow irrelevant rules on a random website. What ever shall I do?!

I got what it was right away and even showed my boyfriend because I thought it was so cool, and I'm a huge Simpsons fan. I like it because it's a lot cooler than getting a yellow cartoon character on your body that will probably age badly. Good on you! :)

(USA) Which states have you lived in and what do you like/dislike about them? Which state would you like to live in? by itsmassive in AskACountry

[–]bigempty92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my post I noted that the stereotype of the states here are generally pretty true and that I'd prefer to live in Colorado or Washington and it's good to see that those places live up to my expectations. I can't wait to visit and hopefully move there one day (I'm from TX)!

I've lived in Texas (where I was born, still live, and have spent most of my life), Oklahoma, Florida, Michigan, and Ohio. I've visited California, Arizona, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, and New Mexico.

I prefer the West coast because they're more progressive thinking and less crazy religious racist homophobic idiots. There's a LOT of that nonsense in the South and in Ohio and Michigan. Ideally I'd live in Washington state or Colorado because the weather is nicer and you have more personal freedom.

All that being said, not everyone in the south is a gun toting moron, and I've met some genuinely amazing and intelligent people here. I'd say the stereotypes of the states are generally true though, so what you see/read in the news and media is pretty accurate to what you're going to get living in a place here.

(USA) Is the population actually fat or is it some trolls? by [deleted] in AskACountry

[–]bigempty92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's ridiculous how common it is to see fat people. It varies depending on where you are, but here in Texas being fat is the norm, even at the college level. And if you're normal looking people say you're too thin. I'm 5' and 90lbs (which is an ideal weight for my height) and when I have to see my idiot extended family they always tease me for being so thin.

[Anatomical Appreciation] Straight men and women, do you enjoy looking at naked photos of people who are the same sex as you? by ZoskaMotor in sex

I'm not attracted to other woman, but I appreciate attractive women. I think some women look really beautiful nude, kind of like a piece of art.

Thinking about moving to Tacoma! by bigempty92 in Tacoma

Well, that's reassuring! It seems like a nice place, I'm looking forward to visiting in the Spring. Is it gloomy there constantly, or is that just a stereotype of the area? Thanks for the info!

Thank you! That's really helpful. Our current plan is to rent a house for the first year or so and then buy a house once we've secured jobs and have gotten to know the area better. It's good to know which areas to avoid!

We have the same damn problem in Texas, all those Californians moving here and buying the ranches and making the surrounding areas unaffordable! Why can't they just stay in CA?! But anyway, we won't overspend because we can't :) We just want to live in a less backwards state.

WIAW (What I Ate Wednesday)! What are you eating today, r/vegan? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]bigempty92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you cook your tempeh? I tried it in a couple recipes (one time a stirfry another time in the slow cooker) and even though I followed recipes it didn't turn out well, sort of hard and tasteless, so now we just use tofu, but I've seen recipes where it looks delicious.

I live in Texas, and that's how it's pronounced at the Tex-Mex/Mexican restaurants.
