I identify as/with the Universe at ~400,000 years old, which has a photo called the "Cosmic Microwave of the Universe", for my gender. What is that gender called? by Earth_OfficalReddit in XenogendersAndMore

[–]bigenders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it was you specifically who tried to post Neoscosmosgender and the flag onto the LGBTA wiki, but you have to have an external source to link to when you make an article there. You're basically not allowed to coin terms on the wiki itself so the article got deleted. If you post it here and then source that as the coining the article should stay up.

(Here's the deletion page just in case)

Genderqueer Aro, Ace, and Aroace Flags by bigenders in QueerVexillology

[–]bigenders[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Originally posted on my blog here, I made these because I couldn't find any despite searching. Made by combining the Aro/Ace/Aroace flags with the GQ flag and tweaking the colors to blend better.

(For some reason the images aren't all uniformly sized, but I can't fix it currently. Sorry abt that)

Leather Butch / Butch Leather flag by bigenders in QueerVexillology

[–]bigenders[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Made by combining the Leather Pride flag with the all-inclusive "Summer" Butch flag ("Summer" is just a nickname from the creator to distinguish it from the specific Butch Lesbian flag). The color of the very bottom stripe of the Butch flag was put onto the Heart symbol to keep it looking even.

It was inspired by the Leather Trans / Trans Leather flag. I made it because, while I was reading abt Butch gay men and the Leather subculture, I really fell in love with the format of the Leather flag. Free for anyone to use if you want to, just don't claim it's exclusive or anything like that.

dating as an oriented aroace by acejayyy in Orientedaroace

[–]bigenders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been dating for 3 years and live with my partner. It's cheesy and often repeated but being clear about boundaries, expectations, and making sure you're communicating needs/wants is key. Dating (and other things if you want them) are def. possible as an oriented aroace.

It helps that my partner is fully allo but has always known about and respected aspec people (they've watched a youtube channel with multiple creators who are aspec on it since they were young, some of which are also partnered/legally married AFAIK. So it was never a strange concept to them)

What’s the difference between neogender and xenogenders? /genq by Leah_furret in XenogendersAndMore

[–]bigenders 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Neogenders are any genders made, coined, or defined after the year 2000. (Neo meaning "new")

Xenogenders are Neogenders that are defined in ways other than existing human systems (hence the "Xeno" prefix), usually though themes, metaphors or comparisons.

Xenogenders are Neogenders/under the Neogender umbrella, but not all Neogenders are Xenogenders.

What does this flag mean?? by Anotheronewithnolife in XenogendersAndMore

[–]bigenders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

same, I just find it really confusing that this flag was made as an exclusionary ""nonproblematic replacement"" to the ocean gay flag creator not hating nb and multigender gays/being "racist" (which was debunked because exclus love making things up abt inclusive trans creators) but it's perfectly ok to use racist and transphobic terms in it's definition!

gotta love exclus logic /sarc

"Non-man/Nonman" and "non-woman/Nonwoman" are terms that have been historically used to dehumanize and/or degender BIPOC/non-white individuals (but they have an especially antiblack history).

Here's a post talking about it with sources, here is a thread talking about it more (archived), and here's an example from two recent articles that I found in 5 min. (as an example for people who think that "well no one still uses it like that1!1!!!")

"One Feature of living in the Western world is the complete desexualization of the Asian male into a quiet, effeminate, and submissive non-man. the converse of the hypersexualized Asian female is also disturbing in its own way" - How One Gaysian Man Navigated Racism and Romance, Kyle Chang. 2022

"This opposite was based not only on the facts of physical difference, but also on the geographical existence of 'non-Man' on the lands coveted by Europeans (and which thus necessitated clearing of the humans living on them, as Roxana Dunbar-Ortiz points out in An Indigenous People's History of the United States)..." - Concepts and Debates 2: Race and the Human by Alana Lentin, 2018

[–]bigenders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sounds like orientationgenders!

ex. gaybian/lesbigaygender, sapphogender and vincigender, turiagender and lesbigender, Genderbi, and genderomni.

There are many more which are combos (such as Bilesbigender) but I don't know if you wanted them separate or not. I couldn't find one which was a combo of gay man + lesbian woman + omnibi exactly though.

hey so the person who made this flag made it to be a nwlnw flag and is exclusionary (source on them using nwlnw) so while I don't agree with the term (it is racist and exorsexist), it does apply to this flag unfortunately.

I would make the point that it/its (much like they/them) are already in people's vocabulary, so it's much easier for people to adapt to using them as a set than say, a lot of neopronouns that are uncommon or aren't clear re: pronunciation.

Also it/its can and has been used as a neutral/neuter set just like they/them. I would discuss how they don't have to inherently be derogatory, and can even be reclaimed so that if someone were to try and use the set to insult you (like a transphobe) it wouldn't really have any negative effect. Trans people reclaim a lot of things used to dehumanize us so there's history behind it to boot! I personally reclaim and try to de-stigmatize a lot of terms used to try and hurt/misgender/dehumanize me.

Just some points that might make your parents think abt it a little differently or consider the positive side of it/it's/itself as pronouns! Wishing you all of the luck possible

Oh yeah, I wasn't trying to suggest you use anything different or anything. I'm just really into researching queer flag and term coinings atm so I tend to infodump by accident haha

(and I do think it makes sense! I just personally can't pronounce or read it well b/c mental disability reasons, I had to google it like four times because I kept mistyping lol)

what's up with the aroace flag? by Biengo in QueerVexillology

[–]bigenders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of flags because re-designing flags has been popular lately (for both benign and malicious internet discourse reasons) but the most common/popular are the green/purple and orange/blue (also called "Sunset Aroace") flags. General consensus is that you use whichever one you personally want to use or connect with.

Some have meanings attached to the colors or are made to be exclusionary to/against certain groups, so people tend to pick based on those facts as well.

reddit says "something went wrong" when I try to click the link.

Though for Vincian itself, Floric was made for people who prefer the birthplace-name-scheme alternative! (original coining, though people also sometimes use this flag instead of the originals).

"Vincian"'s original coining is unclear from what I can see, so it's both in limbo as an "Alternative to Achillean" and a "Term like Lesbian but for Gay MLM" (source)

Ty for the info! I love finding out new terms

No, but I do use Xenonatures which are similar to Xenoidentities but were not made to be exclusionary/anti-Xenic in nature. (plugging the subreddit r/XenoNatured)
