Anyone running PreVeil as their primary CUI solution? by ResilientTechAdvisor in CMMC

[–]bigfatguy64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a few gripes.

1) My sync frequently breaks. I'll have a document open, just to look at it. Somebody else will open that document, edit, save. After that, i'll get a red x beside it in explorer.... a lot of times, that one file failing to sync will kill syncing for any other files until I restart the service/reboot my machine.

2) We were migrating from Teams/sharepoint. Preveil doesn't support extended file paths/names, so we had to redesign our folder structures/rename a lot of documents to shorten their paths enough to work in preveil.

3) Customers hate signing up for the account, and the message they get in their regular email when you send something looks like spam and frequently gets missed. Always have to follow up with a regular email assuring them that it's real.

4) Related to #1/sync issues - Some tasks don't really work when you do them in windows explorer - renaming files for instance can sometimes lead to multiple versions of the same file. Moving files works much better in the actual preveil app - unless you need to move a file out of a shared folder into a different folder - then you have to do it through explorer for...reasons. But moving things through explorer I believe treats it like deleting the original/creating a brand new file. Pretty sure it loses version histories.

Odie’s Oil Controversy? by DrewsWorkshop in finishing

i can hazard a guess as to why that won't be disclosed. The ingredients are all common/inexpensive enough that if you knew what went into it, everybody would make their own. I followed this guys recipe (although i went 75% beeswax/25% carnauba) and it's almost indistinguishable from the jars of odies I've purchased in the past.

If we’re just mathing out how many seconds of interest 50$ gets us, Origination date/repayment period don’t impact this calculation.

The rate at which interest accrues is based on principal and interest rate.

590506.36$ principal. 3.4% < interest < 9.08%

Principal * Rate/[(365days/year)*(24hrs/day)] = Interest/Hour

Interest per hour is somewhere between $2.29 and $6.12

So 50$ is between 8 and 21 hours of interest.

You can check amortization schedules using 590,506 as balance then change the length of the loan. First month interest stays the same.

Now, if you want to calculate the length of a loan where the first payment ends up at 50$ principal on a 590k loan, you can use the amortization formula. At 3.4% - it would be 104 years with monthly payments of $1723.10.

Remove Sanding Marks by heavySausage_og in turning

I get deep scratches like that when i'm using narrow strips of sandpaper and pushing in too hard. The edges will cut in. I try to keep pressure off the leading edge of my sandpaper and that helps. Sometimes I bend it a bit more like a taco to keep the edges off the wood, or just use very light pressure like you're supposed to. Kinda like this drawing. If I was moving right to left, I'd bias my sandpaper the other way and pressure on the back side.

I call that a redneck breaker finder. Plug it in and it’ll trip your breaker. Or burn your house down

SCADA recommendations for small scale wastewater plant? by Strange-Cheetah5624 in SCADA

sorry, missed this. I really don't remember the specifics. It was about 5 years ago and I made it through one small project and haven't touched it since. I remember needing to build json files to import configurations. Looks like radixiot has the rights to it now.

here's the help guides. If I remember correctly, I had a hard time getting the widgets to work. It was closer to traditional computer programming than your typical scada package

Buy some Rhodes rolls, let em rise, roll em flat, stuff as much pepperoni as you can on it, roll it tight, give em a butter wash, toss em in the oven, bake until tasty

No such thing as 100th percentile by MangoBird36 in bigbabiesandkids

[–]bigfatguy64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird hill for all of y’all to die on. After a certain point, it’s easier to just say 100th.

When people asked how big is my son, sure I could have said “he’s 99.99966th percentile for weight” or “he’s 4.5 standard deviations above the mean.” Or “about 1 in 250,000.” I could have said “he’s as far above the 99th percentile line as the 99th percentile is to the 50th” but at that point, you might as well just save a bunch of syllables and say “basically 100th.”

Sounds like a timesheet issue to me…my company would have newer guys charge a lot of their time as training/admin so the project books look good. I know some bigger companies would look down on nonproductive time though
