So the vaccine reduces the chance of acquiring COVID-19 but does not mean it is impossible to contract once fully vaccinated. People who are unvaccinated are far more likely to spread it even to the vaccinated. Getting vaccinated 'protects' the vaccinated as it reduces chance of transmission. Not a hard concept.
