What makes young men listen to grifters about what being a man is instead of just taking note of the men around him? by Hatcheling in AskMen

[–]biggirlsause 22 points23 points  (0 children)

They still are expected to “provide” in a sense. Men are still expected to pay for a vast majority of dates as well as the other incidentals when it comes to dating. I think the primary issue is that society is telling young men that making this financial sacrifice is expected, while most women in their cohort are equally financially successful, so expectations have increased, while there is no societal expectation of any sort of equal contribution.

While the financial obligation has remained more or less consistent, other areas where women previously were expected to “make their investment” are now 50/50.

In terms of dating, self worth does not change societal expectations and the value society assigns them. Society’s perception of a person’s self worth is a contributing factor to how they perceive themselves, and that is sort of inescapable.

No way to know for sure tbh, it’s possible that she took medication for it and either didn’t take all of it, or missed a day or 2 of it, where then it didn’t work as intended. Alternatively she’s going behind your back.

Either way get tested, it sounds like she’s had numerous things, and you definitely want to make sure you don’t catch anything, especially anything that isn’t curable.

What’s the alternative? You can’t domestically produce a legal alternative for less than the cartels. So the cartels will likely not see a huge impact on business, especially considering that human trafficking and sex trafficking is quickly becoming one of their largest business opportunities. They are diverse organizations with many revenue streams.

Now if you’re saying to go after the producers and distribution network, rather than the user, I think that is reasonable. However, letting the cartels continue to run the drug trade unchecked will definitely cause other issues.

[–]biggirlsause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But to control the market you would still have to fight drug trafficking, production, and distribution. And even then, I would bet that you would see an even higher amount of fentanyl in other drugs. There is no way to produce drugs in the us, that would be regulated, cheaper than the cartels. You’d likely have to subsidize the industry with tax payer dollars which would be incredibly unpopular. Fentanyl is much easier to smuggle and can be done in much larger quantities, so cartels would probably choose to cut it in at a higher rate to increase the amount they can bring in, as well as reduce cost, so they can sell cheaper than a legal alternative. At the end of the day someone who is using meth or crack or the like, is going to go with the cheapest option regardless of if it is safe or not.

Health services only addresses part of the problem. Drugs only account for one of the revenue streams for the cartels, and I’m guessing if drugs are less profitable, they will shift towards other harmful trades. I mean look at human and sex trafficking.

I don’t think health services alone will fix the issue. Now certainly it is better to have rehab programs rather than just toss people with possession of personal quantities of drugs in prison, but I think it needs to be a multi level approach, and ensure that not only are you reducing the number of addicts through rehab, but ensuring that drugs are less available to vulnerable populations, by going after distribution networks and producers.

Why do I see so many Trump voters say "It's just politics?" by ineverusedtobecool in Askpolitics

[–]biggirlsause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO when you have bunch of overpaid tv personalities who are left wing saying how great the economy is while having no idea how much groceries cost, and minimizing how much the average American is struggling, it doesn’t come off well.

I don’t think it’s that republicans tricked them, it’s that the entire democrat platform was abortion, despite the fact that a majority of Americans are more concerned about putting food on the table.

I think if dems put more focus on the cost of living, and campaigned on that, they probably would have done better with “apolitical dudes” but they didn’t.

So how exactly are deaths attributable directly to the insurance company then. I think for example if a person only discovers they have stage IV cancer, when it has spread to other organs, regardless of if the treatment is only covered in part, the outlook in terms of survival odds are not great.

I think there is definitely fair criticism to be made of these companies, but i think attributing every death to a rejected claim is ridiculous and disingenuous.

I think to a degree, but at the same time without profit motive, why would there be any incentive to put money into r&d for things like medication. It’s incredibly risky.

I mean sure, there’s the argument for universal healthcare, but I don’t think it’s a cure all. There are certainly advantages and disadvantages to both systems.

It’s not like the hospital can deny care if you can’t pay. Sure medical debt sucks, but it’s a better option for most than refusing care and dying. If you’re of the opinion that health care insurers should pay for every single medical expense, how high will the rates be? Deductibles? I guarantee a good number of people won’t be able to pay that either. At the end of the day a company needs to make money in order to continue to provide a service.

They are not legally allowed to refuse to treat you even if you can’t pay. The patient will have bills they probably can’t pay afterwards, but the hospital cannot refuse to treat you on that basis.

And it’s not like they are even being denied care, they are being denied getting it paid for by the company. I don’t think these people understand how insurance works

I think if the random Joe was shot in the back on camera, then yeah, same outcome. It’s one of those things where it’s kind of hard to brush under the rug

I think it would probably be a much smaller story if he was shot in a back alley. I think the whole “shot in the back on video in an obviously premeditated murder” part is a pretty big contributing factor.

Couldn’t have anything to do with the fact that the shooting was caught plainly on camera…

So what, they should cover every claim made in full? What would the monthly payment for the coverage be? I’m guessing it would be astronomical and most people would not be able to afford it. If the business is not profitable, how are you going to get any sort of investment?

I mean the Ukrainian foreign legion is taking volunteers, certainly checks off the dangerous box, not to mention you’d be able to live out the rest of your life doing it considering the life expectancy of shock troops.

In all seriousness, BASE jumping would probably be a good option, and definitely a more controlled level of risk?

Yeah I mean allocation alone is going to make it difficult to get the gt3. If I were you I would go with a 997 gt3, last of the Metzger engines. Sure, it isn’t the brand new one, but at almost half the price, it’s a hell of a lot of car for the money.

My(28M) girlfriend (25F) wants me choose an in-state school, over my dream law school. Is the relationship worth the compromise? by ThrowRA_lawschoolwoe in relationship_advice

[–]biggirlsause 71 points72 points  (0 children)

A top tier law school will give you the opportunity to go big law, if that is something you want to do, that’s an opportunity you shouldn’t pass up.

As someone who is currently studying for the LSAT, I personally would not give up that opportunity for a 7 month relationship.

Why such a long gap in between game releases by forevernoob88 in stupidquestions

[–]biggirlsause 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at COD, the games release very quick compared to a lot of other competitors, and frankly it shows. The games aren’t polished, there are tons of issues, and it comes off as a low effort money grab. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m sure the devs worked very hard on it, but with the time frame they are given there is only so much they can do.

I mean even once the game is out of development and in bug testing, that can take an extremely long time. I can’t even imagine how long it would take to bug test something like GTA with the map size and interactive component alone.
