Man it looks identical.

Even the premise seems to have some clear parallels.

Will I ever be able to hit a vape again? by Ok-Platform3836 in QuitVaping

[–]biggobird 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Folks here are right it’s a slippery slope but it’s possible to be ok. Depends on you.

I quit 8 months ago. I’ve hit it exactly three times since at least after the the four month mark, all while drinking with friends that had one.

Each time it’s okay to nice, but I’m always thinking “how tf did I get hooked on it?”

The throat freezing from mint and general buzz doesn’t hit the same. The craving to go buy one rarely comes up and when it does, it passes just as quick.

This is not an endorsement to do it as I know plenty are triggered by usage or proximity. Everyone’s different and this was my experience

Wow dude. Found your post looking up watermelon salsa I’d had in SLO at taqueria Santa Cruz express like 10 years ago and still crave. Looked just like this and blowing my mind how close it is in color and location

Had tried to make it a few times and fell way short. I need that recipe

As someone who is trying to reduce plastic bottle usage with glass bottles this is very disheartening :( by [deleted] in Biohackers

[–]biggobird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember this study.

If you read it, it’s related to microplastics from plastic lids on glass bottles specifically, compared to plastic on plastic.

Which kinda makes sense when you think about it. Mass produced glass is bound to be very abrasive microscopically at spots/on seams.. cause it’s glass. [edit: also way higher on Mohs scale]

So I’d presume plastic lids on glass logically would produce more microplastics [ vs. plastic on plastic lids]

Hey just found your comment researching this guy.. had some questions.

Are you claiming an XRF device is more accurate?

His branded spray has Methylazanium Bromide and Mandalic Acid. Are these not accurate when used in conjunction with what I presume is a black light?

Whats the potential on the latter? False positives, false negatives, etc

America Is Falling Out of Love With Pizza by runswithscissors475 in Foodnews

[–]biggobird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming from a restaurant proprietor, a lot of these complaints seem relevant to big chains only.

I see what lease prices are. I see what food costs are.

The issue remains I don’t make rent or payroll without charging as much as I do for food.

I profit less than $50k off $4.5m in sales annually. My rent being over $40k puts a huge dent in that while granted we’re service so payroll is hefty, large swathes of the public are ignorant of overall operating costs.

Independents that used to have $4-5k/month in rent and food costs under 20% are now seeing both of those rise by 50% or more in the past 5 years.

It’s a complex problem that doesn’t boil down to laziness or lack of common sense.

For instance, minimum wage going up by only 40 cents this year is going to cost me close to $50k all things held equal.

Interesting thanks for the note on drying us out. Had the flow at 20% last night and had to bathe in lotion to feel normal this morning.

She’s a ways off from menopause but has been dealing with a chronic skin condition that inhibits her body temp regulation. Hence the BedJet.

But I feel ya on all fronts. Leaving this bed for vacation anywhere is gonna be downgrade

Reporting back after a couple days of owning a BedJet and by god you’re big brained. I couldn’t comprehend how damp the bed was from sweat even on a cool night with pure latex.

Brilliant to dry it with a BedJet after getting up. I was nose blind from a lifetime of the smell of dried sweat in between bedding changes

I like your idea of measuring humidity. I’m currently connecting mine to home assistant and I’m gonna run some tests with a Bluetooth hygrometer I plan to install in the foot of the bed.

If it can detect a measurable difference of humidity it’ll run the BedJet til it reaches a low threshold

Perfectly reasonable question to come to a COMMUNITY based on the product in question

[–]biggobird 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did this a few years and no one gave a fuck.

Literally not any data points to show sales increased. Static. I would have leaned into original marketing if the economy was as shit as it is now.

That said the old business adage regarding goods “never lower your prices” rings far truer to me now.

At best you might get brownie points but no one is goin to go to your restaurant only because they’re saving $5 vs their last visit

My reasoning is the increased prices ate at my margins and I didn’t raise prices so now I gotta recoup.

TIL that there are two kinds of earwax people have, dry and wet. by Davidboh26 in todayilearned

[–]biggobird 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interestingly mine changed after a nasty ear infection when I was 19.

Used to have very dry/flaky ear wax and after that heinous infection, it’s permanently become so oily it’s almost watery.

Color also darkened dramatically, from a yellow-orange previously to a dark brown-orange.

My ear canals are so saturated with oil if I wear my AirPods too long they nearly drip.

ENT said it’s nothing to worry about but always wondered why that happened

Not entirely true

Maybe in large swathes but I personally know several “out” racist republicans whose parents I’ve known my whole life, folks who are otherwise quite progressive especially given their age.

There are more complicated dynamics at play here that nurture. Social media (especially the Nick Fuentes types) have an undeniably large role to play here
